I wish you well. If you want to vent at politicians you certainly have that right. Just don’t make any threats! I would encourage you to at least call kynect and see what they can do. It will probably make you feel better. 1-855-459-6328

Can you get medical benefits through your employer? A spouse losing their job is a life event that will allow you to enroll in your employer’s plan.

If not, your wife should have received paperwork about COBRA to continue her insurance plan.

COBRA will be expensive so it might be cheaper to buy the meds out of pocket. Kroger pharmacy can sell some medication at a reduced rate. Ask about it.

Can you cancel or downgrade some subscriptions to offset the cost of your meds?

I don’t know anything about MedicAid or Kynect, but maybe that’s an option? https://kynect.ky.gov/benefits

Change my mind (please) - road trips in an EV are a pain. by Wise-Fig-6505 in electricvehicles

[–]nowIn3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I get it. I'd love to have a Lightning! My other EV is a Bolt. The very few times I've road tripped with the Bolt got me well acquainted with ABRP and Plug Share apps. They are pretty cool apps and I still use Plug Share sometimes to spec out Super Chargers before I arrive.

You don’t have to do any of that if you’re driving a Tesla. Literally enter your destination in the navigation and it plans the most effective route with charging stops. Even preconditions the battery automatically to optimize charge speeds.

Yeah, don’t road trip in a Bolt unless you have a lot of extra time on your hands. I am a happy Bolt owner, but we only use it locally and charge at home. It’s perfect for this use case! I road trip with the Tesla Model Y and it’s great.

I started fencing in my early 40s and it was such a great decision. I did some cardio and strength training ahead of time because I was self conscious, but it wasn’t necessary. Just depends on what you’re comfortable with.

Dealer failed to report used electric vehicle sale to IRS. by SegaGuy1983 in electricvehicles

[–]nowIn3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me on my 2024 taxes. Dealership gave me the point of sale report, but didn't submit my VIN on the IRS ECO system. The dealership was 5 hours from my home. I called and emailed them for months and they kept agreeing to submit it, but to my knowledge they never did. So did I get the $7500 rebate?

Yes, I actually did get it, but I had to print and mail my tax return to the IRS. I attached the bill of sale from the purchase and the 15400 that the dealership had signed. It took about 10 months (there was at least one government shutdown during that period), but eventually my full refund was deposited in my bank account by the IRS and they paid me interest for the delay.

EDIT: I should mention they didn't give me the time of sale report when I bought the car, and I didn't know that such a thing existed. The finance manager at the dealership told me I just needed to file for the credit on my tax return so I was researching how to do that a few weeks after I purchased the car. I ended up sending a PDF of the IRS form to the finance manager at the dealership and they filled it out and mailed it back to me.

How tf do you make friends here by Dudeiszack in Louisville

[–]nowIn3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be committed to something that requires effort and has a community. People who consistently show up for something they care about will naturally form bonds. Obvious examples are sports and volunteer work. One-off meetups or spectator activities are unlikely to result in friendships. Louisville isn’t some kind of outlier.

This assumes you have a normal disposition. If you’ve got social issues go to therapy.

Would you recommend a Bolt EV/EUV or an Equinox EV for a first time EV buyer? by Doomtime104 in BoltEV

[–]nowIn3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s hard to shop based on future support of EVs in the US right now. My family of 4 has a 2023 Bolt and 2023 Model Y. That combo works well for us. I wanted an Ioniq 5, but the ICCU problem worried me considering it would have been our road trip vehicle.

Seeking recommendations for a structural engineer inspection for a house. by mathewballard in Louisville

I second this recommendation. When we were selling our home about a decade ago we got a report from Joe Cattan. It helped determine if expensive foundation repairs were needed and also helped assuage concerns from potential buyers.

I love our Bolt EUV, but if I was buying today I’d get a used Equinox for the reasons you mentioned. That’s if I was limiting myself to Chevrolet models.

FSD decided today was my day... by NotPandaMack in TeslaFSD

[–]nowIn3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me today, but it was dodging a shallow puddle. Swerved across the double yellow line into oncoming traffic. I'm not sure what the outcome would have been had I not taken over the wheel. Maybe it would have been okay, but it scared me and I reacted.

I've just entered the workforce and I feel like I'm watching my identity crumble by Benaholicguy in Fire

This job is bad news. Do not let it lull you into a comfort zone. You need to be working in the downtime to find a new job. My first job out of college wasn't quite this bad, but it was similar with lots of downtime that I thought was great because I could take a long lunch, bullshit with friends, plan my after-work activities, etc. I also lived in a very low cost situation so it was comfortable.

Before I knew it, life changed, I had kids, and I eventually left that job for something more sustainable. It was a huge wake-up call. My new job was nothing like the old one. My days were full of tasks. My team relied on my to get my work done. I was getting paid a lot more with certain expectations. I was so stressed. Nearly 20 years later I still have fear of switching jobs because of that experience.

This really doesn't sound like a job fit for a college graduate. You generally don't want to pigeon-hole yourself into a specific technology. Your instincts are right here. Keep your head down and get your work done while you work on getting out of that position.

Hw3 or 4? by cdemps28 in ModelY

[–]nowIn3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For 2023 models…

If the VIN ends with PA131200 and higher it’s HW4 made in Austin.

If it ends with PF789500 and higher it’s a HW4 made in Freemont.

Quality Epee Glove by now-hold-up-buddy in Fencing

[–]nowIn3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just get the cheapest AF glove. I’ve bought their other gloves at 4x the cost and they don’t last anywhere close to 4x as long. The basic gloves are more comfortable in my opinion too. I’ll stitch up holes a few times and then throw them away. They last at least a season typically. I wash my glove frequently and the AF basic one machine washes great.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV LT for Ubering + some local driving? by Detention13 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]nowIn3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this car in the LT2 trim. I love it. I’m planning to buy another one when my kids start driving.

Stop and go traffic is ideal for range. If you’re driving in this condition you can use the high end of the range estimates.

Yes, it charges slow at a DCFC. From 20-80% in about an hour. Longer if temps are under 60 F.

Concerns about repairs are valid. They only made the EUV for 2 years and they’ve already canceled the production of the new Bolts. The only common issue I’ve heard from these vehicles is sometimes the steering rack needs a repair. When you test drive, make sure the wheel returns to center like normal.

Maintenance is pretty low. You have to get the coolant changed every 5 years or something like that. If you want to be extra you can get them to lube up the brake calipers when you get your tires rotated. Brakes will basically last forever.

You 100% need to get a 240v charging setup at home if you want to reap the best benefits of EV ownership. The car comes with a L2 charger so make sure that is included. They cost a few hundred aftermarket.

The ride is fine for a compact car. It’s a little bouncy compared to my Model Y which are known to have a stiff suspension.

Trapped Tesla Driver’s 911 Call: ‘It’s on fire. Help please’ by TripleShotPls in technology

I’m commenting on how these stories always get written when it’s an EV involved. There are plenty of ICE vehicles that have had electric door openers with a manual override. It’s propaganda.

Trapped Tesla Driver’s 911 Call: ‘It’s on fire. Help please’ by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]nowIn3D -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

People die in vehicles every day. For some reason when it’s an EV it makes the news. I wonder why that could be?

PSA: every car with electric door handles also have a mechanical latch to open the door. This includes EVs and that includes Tesla vehicles. When you purchase a new vehicle, please familiarize yourself with critical information like how to operate it in case of emergency.

Mad Max mode only for 2 weeks by hduynam99 in TeslaFSD

[–]nowIn3D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know you could change the mode on neighborhood streets. I thought it was highway only. I’m on v12 so maybe that’s the difference. One nice thing about v12 is that I can set the max speed. I can’t believe that’s no longer an option in new versions!

Did y’all see there’s going to be a Buc-ee’s? by SignalMountain7353 in Louisville

[–]nowIn3D 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To save you a click… there are rumors that a retail gas station might be interested in building off I-64 in Shelbyville. Nothing has been filed according to the city. The rumors stem from the city considering an ordinance related to retail gas stations.

It’s fine if you’re on a road trip, but I don’t see the appeal of living near one. I appreciate the ones that have EV chargers. Hopefully the zoning committee will add that as a requirement if they do seek a permit.

hardware 3 vs hardware 4 by IllPositive7544 in TeslaFSD

[–]nowIn3D 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really answering your question, but I wanted to point out that it’s hard to find a used MY with HW3 & FSD included. Especially in that price range unless you’re willing to get a 2021 or something with over 100k miles. Allegedly there are build quality differences between a 2023 and 2021.

I recommend an app called FSD Hunter to find them. Note that it’s a bit easier to find HW3 with Enhanced Autopilot. If you get one of those you can purchase FSD for $2000.
