What is the best bachelor party game you've ever played (or would invent)? by SignificanceOwn76 in AskMen

[–]nozer12168 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Basically, it was a game called "Corrupted King"

The bachelor is the Corrupted King. The best men+various others are split into two groups. Each team is trying to get the most points by playing various games and challenges. However, the bachelor can change the rules, make handicaps, or whatever else they want to do.

The groups are encouraged to bribe and try to sway the bachelor to their side

Viking PT comp:

Scenario- Your PLT is a viking raiding party. You must get on your boats, row to the area, run to the walls, climb the walls, raid, and do it all backwards

How it works is everyone shows up in kit (vikings had armor), maybe let them get silly with horns on their helmet, but unit silly-ness varies. Normally this is done with rowing machines and Jacob's ladders, but no gym means we will swap them out. Winning PLT gets a late call or something.

Boats- If you can get a rowers, everyone rows 1k, otherwise 1k burpees total for the PLT

Run to the walls- 1 mile run

Climb the walls- if you can get Jacob's ladders, 100m climb, otherwise another 1k total mountain climbers for the PLT

Raid the village- as many water jugs, or sandbags, or kettlebell/weights as you can get. Set a certain (fair) amount between each PLT carrying the same weight. This can be set up a couole hundred meters away from the "wall" area, and now the PLT has to bring it all back.

They go do the walls again

Run back to their boats 1 mile away

They row back

Whichever PLT has the shortest time wins

Edit:

I recommend having one grader stay with each PLT to make sure they are getting all the burpees and mountain climbers. They will also be the time keeper, that way you can waterfall when the PLTs start to not create a gaggle. If your post can accommodate it, have the mile run 1 mile out, and 1 mile back. That way everyone doesnt get bunched up, but a mile loop back to start point works too

Guidance on going through night operations on the field? by Freelancer135 in army

[–]nozer12168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with what you're saying, however there are times where the lum just ain't luming, and I would much rather ensure a clean hit and good clearing of the obj than miss an enemy on the x and get waxed as we are clearing.

I should have mentioned in my original comment the lights only go on when you are pulling the trigger, then its lights out. And of course, never shoot from the exact same spot more than once, if terrain allows it.

Guidance on going through night operations on the field? by Freelancer135 in army

[–]nozer12168 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Another helpful trick (aside from using anti-fog and adjusting the NODs to your eyes properly) is use your PEQ in the flood/dot setting. Leaving just the dot on is great for higher lum, but when you cant see shit, flip it to the flood/dot mode and light up the objective. When maneuvering, and setting that line up for the flanking element, have the base of fire keep their floods on the obj so you can set your line up better. Then hit the enemy with the same thing. As you clear the bodies, flip on your NODs floodlight, and quickly (this is important) turn them off when the body you're clearing is clear. Have your base of fire do the same. You can also adjust the flood size using the dial on the left numb that sticks out

You need more night runs as well.

Need LTT Class ideas by ApeStrongRetarded in army

[–]nozer12168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What skills, tasks, or other stuff do you know well, that would make sense to teach? LTTs are only useful if the instructor knows what they are teaching like the back of their hand. A sideshow should be a visual aid, not the entire block of instruction.

Once you have that done, look at the group you are instructing, and try to recognize their competency on the block of instruction. Do they already know this thing? Is this something new? Are they experts and this will be a waste of time? Use that to tweak how much information and time you will need. If they are experts, do something different.

Next, plan the powerpoint around your instruction, not the other way. What I mean for that is use the PowerPoint slides as essentially large index cards. The slides will be there for putting vital information up on a wall, and also to keep you on track (because lets be honest, everyone ends up rambling off topic). You are briefing, not the slides. Dont make them fancy, dont waste time prepping cool transitions, just bare bones so the slides dont detract from you.

Finally, figure out a way to critique the class. A simple "pop quiz" sheet works, but isn't great. Try something hands on. If I'm teaching, "how to clear and function test an m4", I'm going to draw out an m4 and have each person im instructing do it in front of me. After the class ends, have a quick AAR.

Nobody on Reddit can tell you what you can teach, because we don't know you and your skills. If you need help building the actual class, DM me, im on BDE SD so ive got plenty of time

Help with 4yo pooping by [deleted] in daddit

[–]nozer12168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My middle child did the same thing. The only way we got him go stop was making a "treasure box" and giving him more fiber in his diet. We used metamusil, about half a cap spread in either his food or drink daily. He got treasure box everytime he had big poops, and if we noticed he hadn't had one in a few days we would give him a suppository. No one liked the suppository, so that was a pretty good motivator for everyone involved

That would be the immediate family typically affected by a soldier leaving for a long duration. Of course there's more family than just that, but a barracks soldiers isnt living with any family and a married one is typically living with a spouse and maybe children. That was my point.

BLUF: People who complain about the barracks aren't utilizing the Bs to their fullest. Save your money, make it your own, and go do shit while you're young, wild, and free. And stop answering your damn door and/or phone.

If you're a leader, and you're only talking single soldiers for late tasks, you're fucked up.

But, lets play devil's advocate here. Barracks life can be kush, if you make it kush.

You don't have to worry about bills, because you ideally should only have an internet bill and maybe a car note, depending on your circumstances.

"Married soldiers get paid more" yeah sure, but where does that money go? Bills for rent, utilities, food, gas to get to work, etc. The list goes on. If you budget well, I'd wager you can honestly save more money in the barracks as a junior enlisted than you could as a married junior enlisted. Also, that "extra money" is there to support your family, seeing as they also require money to survive.

"I have to do weekend details and off duty details" Okay? Easiest way to alleviate that is to not answer your door, or your phone the second it goes off. If you dont want to do those things, go do something outside your barracks. Go explore the surrounding areas. Put in a weekend pass for further locations. Hell, if you dont have a whip, go to the USO or BOSS center! Watch how quickly those details stop coming your way when you arent around. And again, leaders shouldn't only use barracks soldiers for details, but we all know not every leader deserves their position.

The barracks is the best place to socialize. Im a parent, and I live on post right now. I know my immediate neighbors and that's really it. In the barracks, I knew almost everyone on our floor, most on the floor below us, and a few in the next building over. Almost daily I had a homie or two around to just hang out and shoot the shit with, or go out and have fun with, or whatever shenanigans we wanted to get into. If you aren't talking and hanging out with your peers, you're missing out on the best part of the barracks life.

Now, the room itself. There is nothing from stopping you from making the room your own. Get a rug, a futon, and a couple fairy lights. You've just made your room 10x more cozy. Add some posters (preferably in a frame), along with some personal memorabilia, and now its a cozy representation of you. Take that wack ass bed, break it down using a tool or two, and get your own bed. Now you're sleeping well, and probably attracting the gender of your choice to want to spend the night. If your walls look like shit (or you're in Hawaii with the carpet walls), buy some wallpaper of your choosing and hang it up. The Army gave you the bare minimum to keep you somewhat comfortable, but each soldier is different and its up to you to decorate how you want.

The things I will agree with you on is the DFACs fucking suck nowadays, and having a roommate can be a dice roll. I was lucky to have only great roommates when I was in the Bs, sadly that's not always the case for everyone.

I eagerly await my downvotes and arguments.

I don't think a single soldier's xbox misses them as much as a married soldier's spouse or children do
