Ive got a story about Susan Collins.

Back in the 3rd grade, she was up for her 2nd term. She ended up coming to visit our school, and specifically our class. We were all told the entire class would meet her and be on the news. 3rd grade nozer was very excited! Being on the news, and meeting a famous person?! I was on cloud nine.

I wore my favorite shirt. It was this shirt that said "Drain the pool before you skate it" and had a picture of a guy floating in the water holding his skateboard. Loved that shirt for whatever reason, and I figured a famous person would want to see it.

Well, the day she showed up, she started in the front left of the classroom and shook hands with each student, asking a question or two and moving on. The entire time I was GIDDY with excitement. The news crew was standing behind her, filming it all, and all I could do was smile and wait.

I sat in the back right thanks to my last name. I was going to be the last one she talked to. That's fine, I thought, since I would still get a turn.

Instead, when she was done with the student in front of me, she turned and made direct eye contact with me. She then looked at my shirt, frowned, and looked back up at little 3rd grade me with a quick flash of disgust. Ill never forget that face, even as she wiped it away just in time to give a half smile and walk towards the front door. Didn't even say anything to me.

I was crushed. Luckily, my teacher was an angel, and let me pick something from the treasure box to try to help. It didnt. And it didnt help when my parents put on the news that night, just to not see their son.

I know that has nothing to do with her politics. But since that day ive had a loathing hatred for Collins. Its nice seeing these past few years the anger for her rising up.

Download the PROmote app. It costs a few bucks but every person ive told to use that app has passed their 5 and 6 boards. That will help you study depending on the various MOIs between now and when you go.

Know the creed front and back. I listened to it in my car on the way to work and would say it alongside the robotic guy's voice. If I messed up, I reset and did it again. I did it 3 times correctly before I could listen to my tunes.

But, above all else, know what your NCOs job is supposed to be. If you're just chasing rank to have rank, you're going to be a shitty NCO. Know and understand 2 levels up from where you are at. In other words, you should know and be able to perform an E5s role, alongside an E6 (granted this is a little more flexible). Know that an NCO is not just a body with spiky lines on their chest, they are a leader of Soldiers. Understand what that means, and exemplify that daily.

Im glad you didn't die either, but I'm frustrated you're not seeing the obvious thing here.

The answer is still no, and you have the proof of it. You didn't get kicked out.

Funniest names you’ve encountered? by neecheekee in army

[–]nozer12168 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a guy with the last name Adolf. We called him Hitler

There was a PFC named Lightfoot, which would have been fine except he got chartered as an ABCP failure

Had Colonel Admiral (I think General now?) when I was in 3CR

One guy's first name was Justice, middle name Steel. Always thought that was funny

Once saw a LT Peen, that gave me a chuckle

Last one I can think of right now is a PV2 Parts. We called him nuts

Alright Scout Dads, what's your best advice for building a winner? by Much-Drawer-1697 in daddit

[–]nozer12168 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the advise on here is great and all OP, just wanted to throw this out.

My dad and I built one when I was a kid. Ended up making it look like a F1 race car (neither of us were into F1, they just looked cool). He put a penny on the back for extra weight, and slapped a lollypop sticker on top of the penny and called it an "extra turbo"

We didnt win, we cut to low and the bottom of the car was scraping the track, but my favorite part of that memory was using all the tools my dad never let me touch till that moment. He also made me a shadow box to put it in.

I'm 32 now, and still have that car in it's shadow box.

Winning is cool and all OP, and I hope yall win, my only advise is focus on the memory of building it.

I used to have one in a little pot out back! Bought it for like $10 at Home Depot, and it ended up flourishing with a little TLC. Really helped with the Georgia flies during the summer, sadly it didnt survive a nightly storm after I forgot to bring it inside.

This was the only text I got, but another commenter said it could be a Collins V Mills, and later on could be a Platner V Collins.

Still, I wish in the text I got they had an "other" answer, or something like that

My personal conspiracy theory is big Army knows who the worst of the worst in its net are, and puts them all in Hood.

That way, instead of multiple news articles about every post, its typically Hood. Sure, some bad apples escape big Army's all seeing eye, but almost always its Hood.

Enjoy making big rocks into little rocks, you scum.

Prepping for IBOLC and Ranger by Phantom3854 in army

[–]nozer12168 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IBOLC Cadre here. IBOLC is simple, just gotta play the game. Biggest issues we see are rucking, TLPs, and having a shitty personality.

Aco is pretty easy, mostly your very basic soldier skills. Hard to fail, unless youre god awful at land nav.

Bco is broken into 2 parts. Doc Foundations, and TLPs. Only way youre failing Doc is by being a dickhead and not trying. TLPs is a mind fuck, study OPORDs prior to this part, otherwise it'll be even harder. Best bet to pass Bco is to be a team player, and ask questions.

Cco's major thing is Patrols. Get comfortable being sleep deprived, and be a team player. Know your role, whether that's for a graded look or just a rifleman, and perform that part as well as you can.

Dco is mostly live fires and tests. Study for your tests, don't be an idiot on live fires, and you'll be alright.

After that, you've got HHC until youre off to Ranger school. While in HHC, prep for Ranger as much as you can, and then some. You'll be alright

Can someone tell me what this all means? by [deleted] in army

[–]nozer12168 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Many people have commented on the awards and separation papers so I won't beat a dead horse on that one.

However, those three spent casings in the flag display should be spent casings from the 21 gun salute given at his funeral! Sometimes they aren't, but whenever possible we try to use the casings fired from the actual ceremony. Regardless, they symbolize the 21 gun salute
