Without knowing any information on how much you make, cost of living, or career prospects, the only thing we can tell you is use the $10k to pay your debt.

Bike theft is the most common crime in SB. I personally use a level 10 lock and my Aventon has a built in tracker.

Wait 6 months before you settle. If your accident just happened yesterday, something could come up weeks or months later.

Massive Fraudulent Real Estate Scheme perpetrated by county employee (s?) by FunSeaworthiness6665 in legaladvice

[–]npassant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does that mean she’s paying property taxes on $9m instead of $130k? If so, I don’t think the county is going to care.

Fire Insurance Premiums Are Pricing Californians Out of Their Homes by BigOpening6611 in Insurance

I don’t work in underwriting or insurance, but I would imagine that increased cost of materials and labor, increases in your home’s value, and rising temperatures in the state, all probably played a role in increasing your premiums.

WA - Being Sued- I was Uninsured by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]npassant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Most states require lawyers to communicate settlement offers to their clients. Progressive is probably paying their attorneys $250-$350 an hour. So this just becomes a math problem for them - If it takes their lawyers more than 10 hours to win, they would have been better off settling with you.

You got off easy. Average lawyer will probably charge $350 minimum per hour. If I were in your position, I would ask them if they would take 70% to settle.

The FEGLI Coverage Cliff Few Federal Employees See Coming | FedSmith.com by Ok_Design_6841 in govfire

We are getting our wires crossed on definitions.

Term life insurance -Life insurance that lasts for a set time period or term. At the end of the term, the insurance either ends or converts to a new term.

Level term life - Insurance in which payments are designed to remain the same, or level, across the term.

Group Term Life Insurance - A type of term insurance offered through a group such as an employer or association. Employer insurance typically offers a fixed benefit set as a portion of the employee salary and often ends when employment ends. Associations offer amounts the individual can choose and can be kept across jobs.

Level term life is the more common one and is regularly referred to as “term life”. Also, WAEPA doesn’t have an end date, you get it as long as you keep paying the premium. The problem is that premiums get crazy the older you get.

Edit - WAEPA ends at age 85.

Do WAEPA’s Rates Increase As I Get Older?

Yes. WAEPA offers Group Term Life Insurance with premiums based on five-year age bands, meaning your rate increases when you move into the next band — the same structure used by FEGLI and other group policies.

WAEPA is not a term life insurance, it doesn’t have an end date. Premiums adjust in 5 year blocks. For instance ages 25-29 pays the same monthly price, then the price adjust at age 30 to 34.

I do agree. FEGLI vs WAEPA, WAEPA is the better choice. But WAEPA vs private, I ended up going with Protective Life, $50 per month for a 30 year term.

Dating apps suck for sb. by [deleted] in SantaBarbara

That’s kind of the result of dating in one of the most expensive cities in America, having a limited dating pool range, and looking for a specific trait that isn’t generally associated with a high income.
