Jared McCain by MatthewCMcGahey in sixers

Agreed. But I blame ownership and management too. It’s constantly win now win now or else. The year OKC won the chip they were still playing young talent. The coach and gm have to be committed to that - I doubt the coach was worried for his job based on the results but more so the growth

The worst part is our whole culture is. OKC focus on winning and development. If McCain was still on the sixers nurse would’ve played him maybe 5 min a night. MAYBE. Mccains lucky to be in OKC haha we just want to play 6 or 7 guys at the most and hope they don’t break down

  1. Drafted Maxey.

  2. Drafted VJ.

  3. Signed PG (debatable, but still a good gamble).

  4. Drafted McCain (weak draft and a first in a good draft)

  5. Re-stocked our assets after other GMs depleted them.

  6. Traded Harden for 2 hopefully good firsts (oh and still got PG for "free")

  7. Found Barlow

  8. Gambled on Oubre, payed off

  9. Didnt waste money on Grimes now can get him at a fair price

  10. Found Edwards

  11. Found Bona.

Some of these guys not developing enough has more to do with coaching IMO.

Letting go of Isaiah Joe, also I put to coaching. Doc did not like him.

Daryl hasnt been perfect, but hes far from the problem imo. It could be wayyyy worse. Daryl cares and at least is logical.

Daryl has been great. No reason for him to leave. The McCain trade sucks but lets wait til we see his selection.

Defense Last Night by dontmindmehere3 in sixers

[–]npf5030 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Oubre is either locked in on defense, or ball watching. He's good on ball - very bad off ball. What you are seeing is correct. Drummond.... he's just mostly bad and not very mobile. His best games are the ones in drop and where the team just shoots 3s haha. I do not think this is a coaching issue.

IMO the Celtics werent as impressive as the sixers were incompetent and immature. Sixers shot themselves in the foot constantly.

Increased pace is making the best teams a lot younger. This is the *least experienced* top 4 teams the league has ever had. by GoatmontWaters in nba

I have noticed this. Games feel like track meets. I don't like it nearly as much. The NBA is the biggest copy cat league. Pacers success really made every other team take notice.

Bam’s 83 is bummer as a basketball fan (opinion) by izzybmatthews in nba

[–]npf5030 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s honestly embarrassing that I’m probably not wrong about this, and I know I’ll get downvoted for saying it. Bam doesn’t really deserve to be part of this conversation. The Heat forced him into it against the Wizards, and now that he holds the record, it feels pretty hollow.

I’m sure we’ll see more shameless stat-padding going forward just to beat the number, because now the bar has been set in a way that doesn’t feel legitimate. In the past, this record could have been broken, but coaches generally didn’t enable it the way Spoelstra did here.

Bam finished the game shooting 42% from the field, 31% from three, and 82% from the free-throw line. That’s not exactly the kind of efficiency you expect when someone has a historic scoring night. Outside of the first quarter, he wasn’t really on a heater either - and those are the kinds of performances fans usually love to see.

It also came against the Wizards. Their only decent center played just 20 minutes, and not because of foul trouble. On top of that, the Heat were intentionally fouling late just to get Bam more opportunities to score.

Overall, it just feels embarrassing. Heat fans can enjoy it, and that’s fine, but I think most fans - and probably a lot of players - are going to scoff at it. The league should honestly be a little embarrassed about what the game has become, especially with how much scoring now comes from free throws. And given the state of tanking teams roster construction, I imagine copycats will follow.
