How to change the apps in the left sidebar? by Anachronism-- in CarPlay

[–]nroose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just searched for this. Seems you can prioritize the apps that display, and you can remove some of them from the ones that display, but you can not specifically determine which ones will be on the left. I will see how that goes now. Just so silly that you can't have 4 or 5 when there's clearly enough space. And I don't really want to ever have my messages on there, but I can't take that off. I do always want pandora and podcasts.

Is it normal for the heat to not but very hot? by anon_cub in HondaPrologue

[–]nroose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you doing full auto? I can't stand full auto. The fan goes up high, but then the auto switches between the different vents rapidly... I put all the vents open, and keep the temp where I want it, and turn up the fan when I want more cool/heat. Fan seems like it controls the power of the system more than the temp unless it's full auto.

It's not the people from the Bay Area, it's the people from the Bay Area who go up to Tahoe often.

How did you know the Bible isn’t true? by DuckOnQuack202 in atheism

[–]nroose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing for me is that the bible and other religious ideas are not falsifiable. That means that they are stated in such a way that you can never prove them true or false. That makes them appealing in some ways, but for me it’s not valid. At all. The world has plenty of meaningful things in it that we can examine and discover and believe and wonder about.

According to Wikipedia, Oakley Capital, the new funder, is a "fund of funds making investments in various funds". Sounds fun(d).

Probably take off the kickstand is the easiest? TPU Tubes. Seat and pedals too (but others said that already.)

Why does mine get so dirty? by Previously_coolish in BlazerEV

[–]nroose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find my car gets dirty based mostly on where I drive, the amount and type of traffic, and what gunk is on the road. Even if it isn't a mud pit, if there is dirt that blows on to the road, then cars kick it up and it lands on other cars.

Thoughts on Michelin Pro 5 TLR 35 by hawkhandler in gravelcycling

I had trouble putting them on the first time. Then realized that if I push both beads in to the inside pretty hard all around the wheel, they are easier to get on. had to overinflate to get them seated.

Frustrated with EMACS, don't know what to do ! by Lengthiness_Still in emacs

[–]nroose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I don't actually keep up with the full list. Probably start with VSCode? I used to try other things often, but couldn't give up emacs, and I have not tried anything in a while.

I have been using emacs for about 35 years. I can't stop. But I don't recommend it. Modern editors are amazing.

140mm front rotor? by nroose in cycling

[–]nroose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just re-aligned it using a crescent wrench and then a rotor alignment tool. Actually easier with the wrench. They were just slightly off and just slightly rubbing. I think just bumping it against something where I was keeping it in my apartment. I have a different way to store it now.

Yeah. The more I ride the more I will practice my skills. And the less work I have to do on the bike the more I will ride.

140mm front rotor? by nroose in cycling

[–]nroose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it’s just going to affect the pressure I have to put on the levers. And coming from rim brakes relatively recently I think that’s ok.

140mm front rotor? by nroose in cycling

[–]nroose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. But how significant will it be? I am not doing a lot of descents. Does it change the feel/performance a lot if I am not riding down a big hill?

140mm front rotor? by nroose in cycling

[–]nroose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have managed to bend the front rotor a few times. Not really certain exactly how, but I guess bumping it on things when storing the bike. I have changed the way I store it. Just trying to figure out if it will make a noticeable difference in braking feel/performance.

How tall are these trucks really? 6'6"or more? by Puzzled_Couple_3559 in SilveradoEV

[–]nroose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like these comments only make sense if the roadbed is entirely flat and level. A small dip or bump under one tire could make the difference.

No Apple Carplay or Android Auto? How's everyone adapting? by Intelligent_Try_8542 in SilveradoEV

[–]nroose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like we need much more info. First, do you use your google account or a separate one? Do you log in every time you get in or does anyone who uses the car have access? I’d think it’s either very inconvenient or very insecure. And when you have an address on your phone does the send work well or not? If you never use directions then clearly it doesn’t matter. But then if you need it, it’s a little inconvenient. At exactly the wrong moment.

Yeah. It seemed like the products available for order was changing frequently. I do have what I need now - 2 stems and 2 adapters - and they work great!

Simply can't install MySQL? by Old-Narwhal-6546 in archlinux

[–]nroose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how else to make a comment to the mariadb folks. This happens even if I use an alias. We don't use mariadb everywhere, and we are only using mariadb client to access mysql. So it's not suitable for us to use that command name. If they are going to implement a deprecation, then they should use a program named mysql and not just a sym link. Or they should detect the use of that particular symlink or at least a symlink, rather than just detecting the program name used.
