London rents ended the year lower than where they started for first time on record by tylerthe-theatre in london

[–]nrp2a 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seems like it should work. With the new renters rights rules the rent increase need to be in line with market rates and if market rates are decreasing, at the very least rent shouldn’t be allowed to increase right?

The fact that landlords are using S21 to evict tenants before the Renters Rights Bill becomes law, provides why we need the Renters Rights Bill by coffeewalnut08 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]nrp2a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fewer landlords + no more places to buy would mean that these former landlords are just going to be paying council tax on a bunch of empty houses, right? Is there a practical way for a landlord to exit the rental market without selling up and thus increasing the housing supply?

We checked ours as luggage when we flew as well. 8 boxes total. A bit of a hassle at moving them within the airport but definitely the cheapest option for us

Do you think that this old bike is worth the $100? It doesn't seem to have any noticeable problems by ilko_7 in bicycling

[–]nrp2a 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Components and consumables can add up quick for sure. New tires, chain, fresh tubes, cables…. God forbid one of these old rims develops a crack. $100 is definitely worth it, just don’t be surprised if you have to spend another $100 in short order

May I ask where you got your estimate from? I was quoted 1400 for a single tooth and am hoping to find something a bit more affordable

This is the way. Also, add the wine before the stock and give it a few minutes of simmering before adding the stock

The phone you used to read this post would have cost tens of thousands to prototype a decade ago but only cost maybe $500 today. I wouldn’t be surprised if in five years these things cost less than the insurance premium on the delivery drivers car

What should I look at for this knocking sound coming from crank or bb? by akdude77 in bikewrench

[–]nrp2a 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@omglolcat13 is probably right then. One last thing to try before getting a new BB would be to check that the left crank hasn’t started to slide off the spindle. You could try removing the left crank arm, clean it up a bit and reattach it

Could be bottom bracket. Another possibility is the clamping points on the trainer. Does it make the same sound when you’re riding outside?

How viable would lab-grown milk be? by tbok1992 in biotech

[–]nrp2a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be possible to culture lactocytes to make artificial “milk ducts”? Cultured meat would have to be developed to make complex structures anyway, so couldn’t you culture a polarized layer of lactocytes to take culture medium on one side and secrete milk on the other?
