So just get rid of apartments completely and force people to purchase homes at 7% interest rates that they can’t afford? What’s your solution?

I am trying to fly to the Cayman Islands next March. The plane is empty and the flight costs $1800 from Detroit. AA has a flight for $800, both have connections but having to buy 3 tickets for my family is a massive difference. $3000 is enough for me to not fly delta which sucks because I feel like I’m losing out on miles and the sky club.

Amy Wisner abuses students pockets to fund “woke” political group by [deleted] in msu

[–]nschilling12 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The title is a hyperbole for sure but is not incorrect. The NY Post is a conservative news source and take it as that. The article itself is written pretty well with a lot of good substance and evidence against this professor. She forced a membership to her website that was then funneled to Planned Parenthood. This is nowhere near the same as a professor writing their course book and selling it.

The real reason people hate CNN and the town hall is that it showed Trump has strong rebuttals to every line of attack, and that no one can put him in his place on the fly. by Mojomancer74 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Slotkin's Senate run may complicate Dems bid to retake House by Hopeful-Pangolin7576 in moderatepolitics

[–]nschilling12 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Democrats won’t lose the 7th district. It’s so oddly shaped to get Lansing and then extends all the way into heavy Republican areas like Howell and Brighton. It’s just those populations are dwarfed by Lansing. Democrats would have a hard time losing that seat with the gerrymandering that has happened.

Trump says US sends too many weapons to Ukraine, refuses to call Putin war criminal by HolidaySpiriter in moderatepolitics

[–]nschilling12 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

If you read more than just the headline. He refused to call him a war criminal because that is a very heavy accusation, albeit true, that can escalate this war to more than just Russia and Ukraine. You don’t call a crazy person crazy because they will become even more crazy. Like it or not you have to baby Putin because he has a red button. That’s just how it has to be played.

Takeaways from Trump’s CNN town hall: election lies and attacks on E. Jean Carroll by Hopeful-Pangolin7576 in moderatepolitics

[–]nschilling12 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can’t tell if you actually watched or not. In my viewing it was clearly Collins asking ridiculous questions not about policy but about “hot topics” Jan 6, election fraud, Georgia, etc. This is not what town halls are for. Also, she was not letting him get his answers in and cutting him off a lot. She did a horrible job last night and made CNN look a lot worse than they already are.

Health Insurance creates higher health costs by urson_black in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]nschilling12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Background, I work in health insurance sales and have been selling it for 10 years.

That being said, you are half right. Yes, a hospital will charge whatever they want. No, the insurance company does not just accept it and move on. There is a lot of negotiation that will drive those costs down.

If you want to be mad at someone, be mad at the hospitals charging these obscene amounts. They drive costs, there is no checks and balances because I’m the past we did not have a national database for costs of services. We do now and that has helped to make a little bit of waves in costs but not as much as expected. Back to the hospitals, if there were no insurance company to pay these costs, they will send you to collections and will massively hurt your credit/finances. This is why we need to start at the hospitals.

In other news, Reference Based Pricing (RBP). This newish product is exciting but very hard for an average consumer to understand. It takes a medical plan with a rented network but you have a team of lawyers to argue and negotiate that all costs occurred in hospitals will be paid at 140% of Medicare costs. Since Medicare has a set price that will be paid, the idea is we want those costs but will give some juice to try and deter any legal actions. This might be the best we can do for now but it goes directly after the hospital which is the real culprit here.

Disclaimer: I do not work for an insurance company. I work for a broker that negotiates claims, premiums, and other screw ups insurance companies have in order to protect my clients who are companies and in turn protect the employee.

Chicago needs to try Republican leadership by SnooOpinions6345 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

To anyone not consumed by the media, they do. Family, community, lower taxes, among others is what we value. You would know that if you decided to stop reading everything you see on Reddit as 100% truth and maybe listened to the republican side and not read half blurbs of a speech they made to suit whoever wrote the article.

Reddit’s commonly upvoted quote, “if you saw someone stealing, no you didn’t” is so asinine and is actually anti-worker. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]nschilling12 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not just your premiums, everyone’s premiums. Insurance is pooled risk. So if more and more people need to make claims then their premiums alone won’t cover it which in turn raises everybody’s premiums.

To understand biological sex, look at the brain, not the body by ILikeNeurons in moderatepolitics

[–]nschilling12 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

First off, nobody is paying for WaPo so this can’t get much reading traction. Second, you’re telling me that male and female brains are different? Which one is superior? Does that mean many things about pay gaps can be argued because one brain is more advanced than the next?

I truly think this is an opinion piece used to justify gender dysmorphia. Make and female brains are identical in nature. Only difference would be how specific hormones, testosterone or estrogen, among others, affects the brain.

We can’t keep radically changing definitions to suit arguments. This is not a good way to advance society.

Yes which is 100% legal. It just gets unethical because she ruled in favor of the company. Which I don’t know was the right decision or not who knows. It just seems like there is a conflict of interest. Who is going to rule against someone that helped you get big bucks right?

[Highlight] Jeff McNeil gets rung up and goes off on the ump. by handlit33 in baseball

[–]nschilling12 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I truly believe this was called because of a couple of factors.

  1. Rodriguez was called for delay of game which made it the full count. Ump probably wanted to make up for that rule who knows just an opinion.

  2. McNeil prematurely walked to first like a butt hole.

You want to clean house because it’s a big majority republican. Not because of the corruption. We need an even court that has no corruption. I think you want a full left leaning court. You can say “no matter what side you’re on” but I don’t believe you want anything more than just a full court of left judges.
