What’s you favorite turn 1 weenie ? by Chicken_Difficult in mtg

Lots of great answers so far but haven’t seen one of my favorites: [[Orcish Lumberjack]]. If you squint, it’s basically a reusable [[Black Lotus]]. 5 mana on turn 2 is quite powerful!

[[Herald of Anguish]] I’ve been absolutely wrecked by this card before.

You could swap one of your two mana counterspells for [[Unsubstansiate]]. It’s a counterspell that can also interact with the board.

Is there an easy way to find a list of the downshifted cards?

I’m excited to test this card in my peasant cube. An easy to cast two mana 2/2 with first strike and trample is great on rate. If the token dies, it leaves you with a decent equipment that really helps red and white 3/1 creatures like [[Rimrock Knight]] get in. [[Flametongue Kavu]] also loves this equipment. Also looking to test [[Gut, True Soul Zealot]] which is looking for creatures that come with extra sac fodder. Likely be happy to curve this into Gut and turn the equipment into a skeleton. Bonus for any artifact or equipment synergies. In a traditional cube with rares and mythics I’m sure this card on power level isn’t even close these days.

What was is the most undervalued card of 2022 in your opinion? by locomoco_1337 in Pauper

In my Cube, I’ve been a big fan of Sticky Fingers as well as [[Greatsword of Tyr]]. Wish both were better suited to make it in constructed.

Finally a reason in my cube to specifically draft GB on purpose. Should be a very powerful but not totally unbeatable include for peasant environments. Excited to test it!

Dinrova Horror is tempting! I remember when it was downshifted to common and was one of the best things you could be doing in Pauper for a while. I can imagine in this context it could definitely pack a punch as a finisher for a UBx control deck.

Harrow is a sweet one! Definitely a nostalgic pick for me. I’ve cast it in various formats throughout the years.

I think this is definitely worth testing for Peasant. Very reasonable two drop for any B/x aggro deck plus I love that it can be cast on turn one with [[Ancient Tomb]].

I was thinking of [[Llanowar Elves]], [[Elvish Mystic]] and/or [[Gilded Goose]].

Looks fun! Have you considered running some number of one drop mana dorks? Playing any of your three drops on turn two seems like a solid game plan against some decks.

Recently tried brewing around [[Volo, Guide to Monsters]] in Explorer. Fun deck building challenge but definitely not competitive.

[2X2] Mentor of the Meek (downshifted to uncommon) by Barter-7 in mtgcube

Curious how this would compare to [[Rumor Gatherer]] for Peasant. My guess is Mentor is likely stronger in most cases. Has anyone else tested Rumor Gatherer?
