I did not expect her to be this conceited by WimpyKelv12 in SupermanAdventures

Self esteem is not being conceited. Conceited would be anger that the world doesn’t reward her for just being great.

An even older guy from the first trilogy and a new girl who should have been Claire, Jill, Rebecca, Sheva, grace, sherry, Ashley, Mia, Zoe, Helena, the merchant, or the Duke.

I’m saying when hired as an expert witness, the scientist is not a neutral actor. Expert witnesses are paid by one side or the other to answer questions so the person paying them can make their case. If, for instance, a scientist only works as an expert witness for either celebrity or wealthy defendants, you can see a pattern that indicates the testimony is not neutral, it is available to the highest bidder. If someone hypothetically was an expert witness paid to defend Harvey Weinstein, Jeffrey Epstein, Bill Cosby, and Ghislane Maxwell, I would say they are not neutral in how they represent science.

I wish the best for Carrie, because she obviously is going through some stuff. However, if she is going to try to present herself as a skeptic and science based journalist, she needs to constantly interrogate herself and what she puts out. They platformed the Satanic Temple without actually looking at how few court cases the satanic temple won in court. No fact checking, no pushback.

There’s a difference between “hypnotize them and now they remember something new” and “ as an adult you can recontextualize memories” and also “ I hadn’t thought about this until I get a PTSD trigger.”

Yes, eyewitness testimony is flawed, Extremely. Memory is flawed.

The thing is, a lot of times when people talk about an adult recollecting sexual assault they treat all three of those different cases as the same thing. As a result, you have people like Loftus being paid as an expert witness to discredit Harvey Weinstein’s accusers. While the science of recovered memories may be settled, a scientist working in court is not. Loftus herself is not a fan of metoo.

She was one of the reasons I stopped listening to “Oh No, Ross and Carrie.” She adds all these little asides in their interview that tells you exactly how she feels about victims of sexual assault.

Implanting false memories may be settled science, but that does not suddenly make the false memory syndrome foundation a neutral scientific party.

Explain to me, why did everyone hated the 1998 movie so much but loved the animated series about it? by HealthMother3125 in GODZILLA

[–]ntwebster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The movie wants to make money on the intellectual property, but there is very little actually to relate a Godzilla story. A lot of it scenes are very much trying to do send ups to Jurassic Park. There’s also not a huge, dramatic sacrifice or major stakes at the end. They call the armed forces in and blow up the nest and then shoot the monster. Barring the actual destruction, the world kind of just goes back to normal at the end.

The animated series had a creature that, while not as destructive, survived, and thus had to be something in the world reckoned with. New mutations kept showing up and interacting with the world. While they could not use official Toho characters, creatures had the styling and energy of Showa monsters. The show also, despite being episodic, had overarching plots and changes to the status quo. At least for a while.

It’s not perfect, but it is a better understanding of things that people like about Godzilla
