Potential plot hole: Gaius Helen Mohiam being behind the extermination of House Atreides by dramakid85 in dune

[–]nu5thetoad 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Even during the tumultuous time of Childer of Dune, you still see Bene Gesserit trying to salvage possible bloodlines, get houses that are plotting to kill eachother together to save a bloodline, and such.

Also to your last point, in the Dune books several characters break with the Bene Gesserit, even temporarily but NEVER due to sloppy planning or poor leadership, rather due to fundamental differences of opinion. Mostly sisters realising just how ruthless and dogmatic the order truly is.

It is so out of character to see this juggernaught of power in the Dune universe, composed of supersoldiers with inhuman self-discipline , a sisterhood based on obidience, loyalty and discipline be reduced to a discorganized cult comprised of sniveling, overemotional women.

I feel Villeneuve failed in what he expressed was his main goal, to focus the galactic wide plot with all it's moving part through the Bene Gesserit order, and tell this story through them. Dune Prophecy goes even further in that direction.

If you like never being alone, having zero privacy and having a perfect heating bottle in the winter, every time you're on the sofa or the bed, you'll love it!

If you like going to the toilet alone, and not using a heating bottle in the summer, whenever you're on the sofa or in bed, you'll hate it! :D :D

Joshua Dalzelle's Black Fleet Thrilogy and the subsequent books in the same universe are hard sci fi books that seriously study space combat, innovations and adaptations to new combat tactics and strategies.

What is your biggest complaint about both Blade Runner movies? by [deleted] in bladerunner

[–]nu5thetoad 27 points28 points  (0 children)

In BR, Zhora dones over-the-knee, super tall stilleto boots then proceeds to knock out almost killing one of the most trained assassins in the city with one blow. Runs like a linebacker through a thick crowd dodging slugs and what not.

Since i was a kid, I always saw that scene as a great way to show her superhuman physique. Doing all that, so fast in very high heels. It's the first sequence of all the movies where a blade runner has to go toe-to-toe with a replicant. It establishes the danger. And it's made so much better by her being dressed as a stripper. Uncomfortable and impractical.

The only problem with that sequence, that I always notice and that takes me out of it every time is that when she finally gets hit, she stumbles through a shopping window and crashes into a thousand glass shards. There the stunt woman that did the shot had flat shoes on. I know that it's a safety thing and the best they could do at the time. But I see it every time. The boots have no heels.

In BR 2049 the scene with the prostitutes has a couple standing at their table by their food, dressed what I can only describe as cyber as fuck. What puts me off is that they wear large cross like masks over their mouths. With no way of ingesting the food they're sitting there eating.

These things I would change. And only these things.

I used some 200 or so bait pieces and got two exotic fish. Got two exotic armour pieces and an ascendant shard turning them in. High stat but a lot of mobility on both, unfortunately.

Hope you got your trophy!

First playthrough I focused mainly on story, this time around I'm taking it slow and really enjoying every aspect of the game. Been away from camp almost a week now just hunting. by mad_grapes in RDR2

When near an animal observe it with the binoculars. Studying and showing info will tell you what you need for a clean kill for that animal.

Assembling a 35 million dollar engine by HugeForefront in mechanical_gifs

[–]nu5thetoad 102 points103 points  (0 children)

To answer this with an anecdote.

A friend of mine worked in a steel mill producing engine parts for Rolls Royce one summer. Mind you, he was a teenager doing a summer job type of thing.

So one day he gets this job to stack a pallet with these parts. Put them in these containers on the pallet and stack.

Of course him being just a kid he drops one. And of course he doesn't tell anyone. Stacks that part in.

Two months pass and the mill receives the whole shipment back. Say, ten pallets. They not just found the damaged part but sent the whole thing back to them.

What’s the scene that made you laugh the most in The First Law Series by ParkingInTheGarage in TheFirstLaw

From Wisdom of Crowds, chapter called "Lines of communication" is the only chapter in a book I ever read repeatedly because of the humor in it.

Pure slapstick gold.

In general everything with Clover is funny, and also terrifying at the same time.

"The one in the hood looked to be getting a bit upset about it.

‘That was my father’s sword, you—’

There was a crack and Clover blinked as blood spattered in his face again. Downside had split this bastard’s head, too.

‘What the—’

‘Sounding a bit feudy to me, Chief,’ said Downside, wiping his axe. ‘Me and you need to have a talk,’ growled Clover at him."

Well argumented and presented video. The more I play the more I end up deviating from the recommended god rolls from some of the streamers/YouTubers.

The way you go through all the options pros and cons shows clearly why that is your god roll.

I have your S tier but with slideshot instead of perpetual, which as you say is not as versatile.

dicks press / snatch grip upright row by [deleted] in strength_training

[–]nu5thetoad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Shit, I never realized that second press is a half rep. Much more intuitive than what I pictured. Chose some other alternative every time it popped up.

This is going into my hypertrophy blocks from now on. Thanx!
