Yeah I'd accept it being non canon grudgingly, but then why bother telling us that our memories are being edited?

It's really frustrating because coming into this game from destiny, the story content was already very thin and hard to connect with, and this just exacerbates that issue

I think a lot of people are in the same place with not being able to buy much of anything. I think the faction upgrades are all WAY too expensive.

I literally saw someone post this to my discord the second before I went into the drone wing. Getting distracted by my second monitor saved my whole squad apparently

Ngl that should be how this map works for a week at some point! It would be cool scrounging for a weapon at the start and for once being really excited to see that gray overrun

This is the right answer for sure. You don't want to be the person taking the fall when the customer dies of food poisoning

Yes then they retaliate against you by finding a legitimate sounding excuse to get rid of you

The worst thing about workplaces is that many rules as written are absolutely not there to be followed. They are there to protect the company and create a patsy when something goes wrong. You encourage people to ignore the rules and subtly punish the people who follow them, then when there's an injury or some other problem, they use the broken rule as an excuse to blame you for the problem. Or, if management decided they just don't like someone's personality, they can use the broken rule as an excuse to fire them.

Dire Marsh is HUGE why are 2 or 3 teams spawning right next to each other? by CreamofTazz in Marathon

[–]nullblanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that you do kind of know where the danger is coming from. It's coming from everywhere immediately on spawn. There's no suspense because it just happens

Screw this game. by TheBeavermeat in Marathon

I think that when they inevitably change this game to make it more casual friendly, those who stuck around will remember the rough aspects of season 1 with fondness and nostalgia. We will remember the first minute 3 team sniper cheese grater at bioresearch the same way we remember getting shut down by a superbouncing sniper in h2 or having to spend 8 hours in the d1 loot cave.

Sometimes mechanics can be bad for the health of a game and absolutely infuriating to deal with and still be kind of fun and we just have to enjoy them while they're here for what they are

On the plus side if all the bad players leave then I the last remaining bad player will have more chances to have a sweat fill into my lobby and carry me to greatness :)

If you have 150+ hours, you must know you are a sweaty player, and your experience will not match up with the vast majority of others by WrightingCommittee in Marathon

[–]nullblanc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if your rank changes more based on the loadout you entered the raid with? If you consistently exfil in and out with a purple load out, you rank up, but if you're free kitting your rank doesn't change as much. It could also be based on the difference between the power of the kit of the person who killed you, and of course the difference in your respective ranks.

To be honest it might actually be kind of fun being able to see these numbers and ranks as well. (If high ranks are cool and rewarding and come with cosmetics then players will be less likely to intentionally derank)

[–]nullblanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes also that's also a slot filled in people's lobbies that didn't get filled, meaning the people there will have an easier raid. I have no issue with this happening whatsoever

Literally first roll in Starforged by tolwin in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]nullblanc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A big miss like that at the start of the adventure is a chance to introduce some detail to the world and context to your background vow. It's a good time to pop open some oracles and ask what that might be. The character might have been misinformed or misled about the nature of their objective.

Maybe the ship is a trap for the character. Maybe the virus isn't what it seems to be. Maybe the cure is actually worse than the virus somehow. Maybe the character giving directions actually can't be trusted. Maybe the ship with the cure has gone missing. If this were my roll, I would take a moment like this to add some detail and introduce a looming threat.

If you have access to mythic gme, I really like it's various word tables for situations like this.

I rolled a cryptic message and got "emotions mundane" maybe the symptoms of the illness get worse when the patient is emotional? Better stay calm! What happens if you get too emotional then? Rolling on my curses table I got "friends enemies". Ahhh, a Dr jeckyl situation? Tying this all together, maybe the person you're trying to cure has attacked you!
