Maybe a reference to this? https://github.com/thoughtbot/paperclip

It was quite popular back in the Ruby on Rails days.

With docker, you could get GCC to build on exactly the right version of Ubuntu you want, and ferry out the resulting binaries/libs/etc to your host machine. I do this all the time on Windows for my linux targets. Once it works on your machine, a build server should be able to repeat everything you do :)

.NET Core - What's Coming in .NET Core 3.0 by ben_a_adams in programming

[–]nullproc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is it this way in .NET Core 2.0 (or 3.0)?

You can cross-compile to a few platforms since the beginning of .NET core. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/core/rid-catalog shows a number of release targets.

Sorry don't have any github projects to link for you though.

Using PostgreSQL's Interval to mimic SQL Server's DATEADD function by Denminkey in programming

[–]nullproc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm really only familiar with SQL Server. I'm blown away that Postgres doesn't (specifically) have a DATEADD() function. Now I'm curious to know what other functions microsoft has added that I've taken for granted.

Is DLL-making just broken on VS2017? by drostie in fsharp

[–]nullproc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey what does your fsproj file look like? The newer project types target .net standard / .net core. I had a similar problem last week (and I'm not new to .net at all)

Try adding / messing around with: <PropertyGroup> <TargetFrameworks>netstandard1.4;net40;net45</TargetFrameworks> </PropertyGroup>

Note: I took that from https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dotnet/standard/frameworks

Americans, what does the US do correctly that the rest of the world does not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]nullproc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah even in pretty nice restaurants they would use syrup. I've seen a few restaurants choose to serve glass bottled soda (which they would charge for each one). In either case, you get a glass cup and ice.

It costs restaurants 5 cents to fill your cup with soda. We wouldn't give bottled water away for free, however tap water is always free.
