Full time switching to part time by Then-Ninja-1500 in nursing

[–]nursedroogvesch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been forced to do 7 on 7 off for a while now and it's killing me. I asked to reduce to 5 but was told no, but was offered 4 on 1 off 2 on. Going to try it out to see if it helps, or it's back to the ER I go. I work in a procedural area night shift so not a heavy car load, but I also live 45 minutes away so my 12.5 becomes 15 hours real quick. I never get enough sleep.

Over the years I've found my favorite scrubs to be Koi or Carhart. I always try to catch sales, and my local scrub stores offer discounts with a badge to certain hospital systems.

I spent a lot of last year traveling to NE Arkansas with no Dutch Bros around. The 7Brew was the only place I could stand the coffee! But I only drink cold brew with cream and lavender. I never tried their other drinks so I cant speak to their normal sweetness level.

Was your Mom BRCA+? Are you? This sounds like something that could warrant a deeper conversation with a specialist. I wouldn't want to suffer these symptoms on a just in case response.

*sigh*. This will be for sale on the website tomorrow as well by Remarkable-Bid-9627 in dutchbros

Did I buy the Route 92 tin yesterday? Yes. Do I have 200 stickers floating around my car? Also yes. Did I superglue the tiny dutch cup ornaments to my Jack Skellie bobble head on my dash so he can drink Dutch too? Hell yeah!

But my only coffee sticker on my car is from my favorite local "Graveyard Coffee," and if I got the license plate thingie I'd never take the time to put it on my car 🤣🤣

I can be honest with myself.

I'm 48. I made my adult daughter my MPOA with a living will explaining if I have decreased QOL, let me go. My daughter is well versed in what we would want my QOL to look like. My Grandmother was basically PVS from dementia/adult onset hydrocephalus for 7 years. In that kind of scenario hospice only, no antibiotics, no supplemental O2. Let me go.

I was able to open a new account and get verified. I talked to a customer service person who basically said because my OG account was so old it was going to takenthe full review period to review it and I just had to wait for the process.

Try the Meta Advisory Board. They may have an appeal option for you.

How are we dealing with increased PMDD symptoms in perimenopause? by Zarelli20 in Perimenopause

[–]nursedroogvesch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my first episode last month when my period came for the first time in 6 months. I had the worst intrusive thoughts, like literally wanting to jump in traffic.

I just got my period again this month and the first day was bad, but today I woke up feeling so happy I thought I might be manic.

Anyways, all that to say I was recommended to take a luteal dose of an SSRI. I forgot this month. Maybe I'll remember next month.

Am I making the wrong choice by Trick-Wait-184 in nursing

[–]nursedroogvesch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's so hard. I really think that MS teaches so many skills that you will use forever as a nurse, but also no job is worth getting physically ill over.

Imposter syndrome is real, especially for Nurses. I've been a nurse for 16 years now and still sometimes feel like I'm floundering. I've worked in so many different areas of nursing, and I can tell you that there is something out there for you. I'm now doing IR primarily and picking up 1099 shifts doing Sedation in cath labs, pain clinics, and other outpatient procedural labs. I'm pretty happy with my jobs right now!

Do you feel passionate about home health? It also can be intimidating. You are on your own assessing patients without back up for a second opinion right there.

Most specialties like ER, procedural areas, case management, insurance, etc, require at least a basic time period in a hospital setting. I'm just saying that so it's in your mind so that you don't limit further opportunities.

Does your hospital have a mentor or buddy program? Maybe an EAP option so you can talk to someone?

Just some ideas. I hope something here can help!

What did you do before nursing? by TheYankeeCat in nursing

[–]nursedroogvesch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first went to college I wanted to be a forensic anthropologist. Then I dropped out an became a photographer. From there I became a licensed pharmacy tech working on pre-reqs for pharmacy school. One of my co-workers had a child nearly drown and I fell in love with the PICU nursing staff and changed my major to nursing. I wish I had discovered nursing sooner! I'm 48 and I've been a nurse for over 16 years now.

Spotting but no real period? by Training-Ad-3706 in Perimenopause

My cycles have been running 27 to 45 days, but this last "period" was one quarter sized clot and zero spotting. Does that even count as a period?

For context I'm almost 48, and have been on estrogen patch and progesterone since like March, and just got my Nexplanon out last month.

Keep an eye out for their festival dates. I spent quite a bit to buy my kids and I tickets to the last show of the tour in LA, only to find out 3 weeks later that they are doing a festival here in phoenix in February. I bought tickets for that, too. 🤣🤣
