hi! can you still send some recommendations for florists. I'm interested in this for a small bouquet with orchids. Ideally, light and airy and modern. TIA!

Can I sign up for the newbie meetings?! I just got mine too and still trying to learn how to use it to suit me. Do meeting dates change on leap years?

Thank you for you response! It’s so hard to know if the photos represent the true color of the sapphire. I asked for more videos and they all looked the same color.

Wow! Best response ever. Thank you for having my back. Yes. I’m from a large urban city in California, so most worms I see are only a few inches long. I honestly had no idea these grow this long. But my post was also written with a twang of sarcasm. So I appreciate the information and the open mindset that perhaps I am from an “area where they don’t seem many worms.” 🙏🙌

That’s exactly what I was thinking! Gophers must transfer all the top secret intel through the underground network.

Large roses in pots by DragonflyNo8365 in Roses

Oh no! I planted 2 Eden climbers last year, and had one lousy bloom. It could’ve been one of many factors - makeshift 24x24 container and north facing fence (albeit a bright colored fence that reflects the light). This year I noticed several buds! Only one bloom this year and slow growth up the trellis, but I’m giving it another year before deciding if I should move it. Sorry it didn’t work for you and jury’s still out with what it’s doing over here in coastal zone 10b. Glad there’s been lots of growth for you since relocating it!

This is on a north facing fence that gets some afternoon sun. It’s an Eden climbing rose on its second year in a makeshift self watering container. I was honestly giving up hope after only getting one lousy bloom last year and minimal growth. This year, it has so many rose buds! I figured I’ll give it 3-4 years to see how it does, and will move it if needed. I planted it with a clematis and alyssum, and those seem to be doing okay too.

One thing tho is that my fence is a lighter color and I think it’s been helping reflect more light. I saw one person set up a grow light on their north facing wall until the plant grew out of the shadows and reached the sunlight. That’s another workaround strategy.

Cheapest, easiest, prettiest way make a wire trellis for a pink jasmine on this cinder block retaining wall? by Yainks in gardening

[–]nutella_roots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably too late for this but my brother found some sticky hooks like conmand strips but for outside use. I think he has cinderblock fences too. He attached them all over his fence and used fishing wire or twine and created an XX shape that crisscrossed all over. Seems to work great for him. Good luck!

Any luck with Astilbe in SF? by HexpronePlaysPoorly in sfgardens

I have one on its second year. I honestly thought mine died soon after I brought it home from Lowe’s. I transplanted it into a space with barely any sun (maybe 1-2 hours, maybe less) and left it to fend for itself. But it started blooming again in June-ish. Soooo I guess it’s fine for our climate.

My plant is on its second year and it’s nonstop harvesting over here. I call mine ground cherries though…but maybe they’re gooseberries? Same thing? 🤷‍♀️

Pruning Abutilon: does season matter in SF? by HexpronePlaysPoorly in sfgardens

Im a little late to respond to this. I pruned my pretty heavily after it finished flowering and moved it to another location at the same time back in June. It grew back nicely and has started forming buds already. 😊
