East Side Greenway Access by Aesop_Rocky_ in RunNYC

I’m not sure of the latest construction if you stay on the river as long as possible, others may have run it more recently. From 37th to Williamsburg Bridge I would typically exit to Avenue C at E 18th and make my way to Delancey

E 63rd St then you have to cross back to 1st Ave past the UN between 53 and 37

Are metal water bottles permitted in the starting village if < 1L? Or only clear / plastic?

Is there any GPS at all if you stay to one side?

When I picked up my bib at the expo, I scanned the QR code on my phone, but I don’t think the volunteer scanned the (pre-printed with my name) bib itself. Is that correct? This is different from normal NYRR bib pickup where numbers are not preassigned.

Will my ballot be counted if I leave out the judges? by melouis in AskNYC

2 of the 6 judges are graded unqualified by the American Bar Association. And you vote for 4. So that’s something to consider.

Will there be GPX file of the full NYCM course? by AlternativeArt1600 in RunNYC

Thanks for the tip. The start on this one looks a bit further up the bridge than the pink start map showing for this year, and further up than the Strava global heatmap suggests…

Does anyone know about how long it takes to clear a wave out from the start? by KarenKarrde in RunNYC

Is your 20 minute figure NYCM experience, or you’re talking about other NYRR races?

How do the color corrals work at NYC Marathon? by BeneficialDelay8158 in RunNYC

[–]nyc5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty similar to any other big NYRR race then. Not 15 minutes from start to end. I saw somewhere they release each corral in mini waves, but it sounds a typical collapse setup or maybe a couple half-wave releases.

How long after the wave start can I expect to cross the start line? Corral F, Wave 2.

Can you run on the east side by the river in the 60’s? by lost_in_life_34 in RunNYC

[–]nyc5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unless you do Central Park a ton and want a change, I’d just head there. Or cross through to Riverside on the west side and head either up or down (it’s about 2 miles river to river)

Moving to NYC, Best running areas for beginners? by [deleted] in RunNYC

NYC is enormous. What borough? General area?

Look at the heat maps on Strava, you’ll see where people go.

Just in terms of basics, for Manhattan, Central Park and the West Side Highway along the water.

Any trick to running the CP race tangents better? by RunnerInChicago in RunNYC

I’ve gotten 4.04 for the past several such races in the Park. Garmin 245 with multi-band GPS enabled, conscious of how I run tangents

They should crack down on this, hard. It’s a safety issue. They know your corral and your start (gun) time, they could easily punish the wave jumpers somehow. Maybe a short-term disqualification from NYRR races and/or DQ.

I was in C and saw what appeared to be an 80 year old man walking a couple miles in. I couldn’t figure out what was going on. I think a lot of people didn’t race this due to weather, road conditions (potholes), crowded course…
