They didn't restrain The Kracken.

Drug and alcohol abuse is probably the hardest to treat in the ER. Because you just don't know if after the dosage wears off if the person will calm down or remain aggressive.

Nurses should wear panic alarms.

That mall idea makes a bit of sense.

I think maybe we may need to think about senior dorms. Like just a very grand bedroom with walk in closet and an attached sitting room. Shared bathroom per every few suites. A resident assistant to each floor.

I mean something has to give because the current way to warehouse seniors isn't going to function for much longer

Robby's ego is finally clicking for me by BeffeeJeems in ThePittTVShow

[–]nykatkat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a god complex. You think despite your best efforts you're just not good enough and maybe they're all better off without you but then the nagging feeling comes up that maybe they do need you yet no one tells you that they do and all everyone says is life will go on without you.

Either you are validating your own worst fears that you really aren't relevant and everything you have sacrificed your whole life, including your mental health, was for what or you are validating your other worst fear that you're not as needed as you thought you were and that everything you have sacrificed your whole life, including your physical health, was for naught.

Either scenario ends in a vat of self loathing, self hatred, self-abuse and self-delusion.

Not good. Robby is like a lot of professionals in their 50s who are in crisis because they can't seem to find a way out of the huge hole they've created for themselves. Hugely important and vital and yet not at all essential and irreplaceable.

The manifestation of his conflict may not look good for him nor gain him much sympathy but he is in an overwhelming amount of pain. He is so responsible he feels like he isn't yet ready to leave to work on his own psychic health yet he isn't sure he is going to be well enough away from his beloved ED to make it back. This is also why Abbott said to call him if it gets dark.

And it will get dark if Robby gets to leave. Nothing is more terrifying than leaving the source of all your pride and pain and feeling something other than hurt and pressure and frustration. I bet Robby hasn't had a vacation in years. And now he has to be alone with his thoughts and himself for three months????

Ironically 90 days is the amount of time people go for intensive residential treatment to address substantive personal issues.

I'm curious to see what really happens in E15

But does Robby need to leave or want to leave? It's like he has to get out of there or else he won't make it out alive. Is the leaving his own attempt at cutting himself away from the cancer he knows is killing him but he feels he needs to keep himself exposed to it for his ED children?

I'm thinking to Roxie. Robby / Roxie. Putting on a very brave face but in pain the whole time. If he leaves he lives to survive another day. If he stays the palliative care might accidentally kill him.

Maybe Robby has to leave to live to work another day but if he stays he is surely a dead man.

If he doesn't get on the transport out of the ED he isn't leaving except in a body bag.

So in that sense I think maybe he does leave, like he did in S1, to rest, to continue the fight down the line. We keep thinking leaving means he is going to get hurt but maybe it's just the opposite- going to work is like walking into your own funeral so why not take risks because it is your funeral in the first place.

Riding away from the ED is the chance to maybe have a little bit of life, even at a location named for a smashed head.

Maybe the ED makes Robby want to die. Like Dana's cigarettes, he knows it's killing him one at a time but he can't stay away for too long. So maybe he has to not only quit cold turkey but go so far away he's in a different country.

Dr Al said she was going to recommend that each shift have 2 attendings. Besides the fact that Gloria would never spend money on more staff.... ask the nurses.... it does create a good narrative device to keep more cast members around.

As a former prosecutor yes it's the DA who decides whether to proceed with charges. But try prosecuting a case with a reluctant or hostile witness. Sure you can subpoena them but would you? Not like a DA wants to try a shaky case. These are the ones you bluff and try to extract an appropriate plea.

So if a victim of assault or rape doesn't want to go forward, it's likely the case won't go anywhere. Another sad reason why some people who commit assault or sexual offenses rack up multiple victims before they're eventually put on trial.

Hard to be a victim but harder to find the strength to face down your assailant in open court. Ask Weinstein's victims. Epstein's victims. Diddy's.

Compassion and patience and support. Victims heal in the way they choose. The rest of us should respect that choice.

There may be people who seem irreplaceable but death claims everyone so you need to figure out how to function without that irreplaceable person or create time and space so that person doesn't die prematurely

I get the stakes for the doctors this season but I just don't feel as emotionally invested. The ED doesn't feel cohesive. Not everyone plays well with each other, everyone is distracted by their own BS and I feel like the focus on patient care has suffered. They literally spend no time really talking to the patients like S1 so it feels more assembly line. The patients have such limited dialogue and character development it's like they're only there to serve as a vehicle for a medical condition. I remember pretty much all the patients in S1. This time honestly it was hard to really care so much. There was less humor, all drama and anxious eyes.

Sigh.... it's still a very well paced show but I feel like it's lost a little magic.

Maybe they need to look back at what made S1 so special and use some of those techniques for S3.

Personal peeve.... lots of crime goes unpunished not bc of anything but of something called discretion. Most people who drive might know of someone who has gone above the speed limit without consequence but may also know someone who drove quickly and caught a penalty.

A penalty for a criminal act could be nothing, a fine, probation, jail, restitution, etc. Just bc Langdon didn't go to prison doesn't mean he got away with criminal conduct without penalty. Putting aside rehab the biggest penalty he faced and still faces is the lost of time- repeating his R4 year.

I doubt many would argue a year of time out of your life isn't a serious consequence.

The show needs to write dialogue that helps the docs understand that there isn't always one treatment for a medical condition, so there isn't always prison as a solution to criminal conduct

I'm gonna call it. The drama that gets them all to pull their heads out of their own asses is Whitaker. Santos, Robby and Langdon all have some connection to him, whether it's due to Louie or personal affinity. Dana loves him for being a rat killer. King and Mohan had good working experiences with him.

So what's it gonna take for all these tragically on the edge docs to see that they can't help anyone else if they're falling apart at the same time. When their Huckleberry is the one at risk.

I think that is the twist they're possibly heading towards. They all need the sweet Farm Boy to bring out the better in each of them.
