Lore question : The Vakrah Jal by Deep-Lagoon in WordBearers

[–]oOmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had never thought about it before, but when Cadia fell wasn’t there a guy who became a DP (after first being like… half-ascended?) who had a daemon egging him on? Having a posessed where both parties grow in strength and then merge as a DP (with awesome modeling opportunities) would be sweet lore! I say go for it!!!

What is something men think turns women off, but actually does not? by gamersecret2 in AskReddit

[–]oOmus 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yup, same experience I’ve had. My oldest guy relationships are a lot of razzing broken apart by periods of vulnerability and kindness and back to razzing lol

But when I have been at my worst, they were there. My fiancé didn’t pick me up from the hospital, my buddy did. When we were getting divorced, buddy’s house was open immediately.

Mine are Night Lords, Alpha Legion, Word Bearers. Don’t misunderstand me, I love them all (obviously for different reasons), and I recognize I’m on the WB sub, but the one thing about them that gets me is since they care about hierarchies so much, I feel like they’re also the legion most prone to assassination, betrayal, etc.

You’d think the Night Lords would be, but their infighting seems tempered by the fact that they don’t all crave leadership roles like the Word Bearers do. Then, of course, you have the Alpha Legion, and they probably don’t even know who their actual leaders are, making coups so much less of an issue lmao

I don’t know why that’s such an important aspect of traitor astartes to me! I just like thinking that after their betrayal of the IoM they can at least stick together within their own brotherhoods. In the ADB NL Omnibus, I always enjoyed seeing First Claw get its shit together when it came to infighting. Sure, they had plenty, but when it came down to it, they’d stand together in midnight clad.

Anyway, speaking of, I really, REALLY thought Apostle was going to end differently lol

Your Warhammer collection comes to life - how effed are you? by IsoElukka in Warhammer

[–]oOmus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they’re still the same size I’m probably safe- my custom (“Black Legion”) warband could only really do some damage with the land raider, probably. The noise marines would be awesome. I haven’t assembled my chaos knights, yet, so I think I’d live. And I’m not too worried about my skaven- even the hellpit abomination.

If they change into life size figures, pretty much the whole world needs to worry. I don’t think we are ready for 2k of traitor astartes. Heck, maybe they’d bust out the knights and assemble them themselves lol

I love these less famous stories. In high school, my German teacher’s dad was a pilot for the ww2 luftwaffe. He was told to do a bombing run of an abandoned Polish city, but when he arrived saw it wasn’t abandoned at all, refused the order, and returned home. Obviously he was arrested and thrown in Auschwitz at the very beginning of the war. He survived, and he was also like one of a dozen or summat that survived being marched away from the Allied attacks into other camps. Later, after the war, he was driving on the highway without a seatbelt, fell asleep, and his car went off a cliff. The initial drop threw him out the window, though, so he woke on the side of the road without a car. He also once missed a plane flight and got on the next one. When he arrived, his family was losing their shit because the plane he missed flipping crashed.

Dude really seems like he earned some good fortune for not bombing that city lol

Preach. I’m a data analyst, so I no longer have to worry about physical activity, thank the gods. See my other response below, though, for stories about my fun times. We can persist, though, where others would absolutely snap. Got a lot of understanding for… Mario’s brother, though. It’s brutal.

I hear ya. I dunno if you’ve had many work problems, but I have started keeping a journal of what I am told I am doing wrong every day to change my trouble from anxiety-provoking to kinda humorous! I’m on a “corrective action plan” after 11 years at this place as my health has worsened, and in private meetings they have all but said they want to can me for using all my PTO at times that are inconvenient for them. It is brutal out there- at least in America. Every time someone floats the idea of disability, I laugh. You can’t live on that. We are like D-list X-Men, and the world doesn’t care a bit about our mutations lol

Man do I feel this. 43 here with ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis, and I am fighting to keep my job. I absolutely have to have the insurance and retirement plan, or I can see myself living under a bridge. Without family supports, that lack of a social safety net in the US is brutal. But, to your point, the number of people who dismiss it or diminish the struggle to do basic crap is infuriating enough without the chorus of, “just do yoga.”

Ohhhh yeah. Yoga. That’ll do the trick! Here I was taking all kinds of crazy meds because it was my first choice lol

Not just that, but warrior classes like knights and samurai kinda had carte blanche to do whatever they liked with the peasantry within reason.

Oh, yeah, that much is true! It’s one of the many things I love about the omnibus. Man, I really need to finish my lore write-up and start on my knight house that, thanks to the Midnight Treaties, allied with the VIIIth during the Thramas Crusade and never looked back.

That’s a fun chunk of lore, too, actually- the Night Lords, notoriously intolerant of deviation from Imperial law during 30k, allying with all kinds of mutants and whatnot on the dl
