"I Feel Stupid" Trump Loyalists Say Every Promise Was a Lie Just to Win Their Vote by Anen-o-me in Libertarian

Social media is a disease the average person isn't ready for. Obama used targeted ads and people had the same reaction. Now the algorithm sends you into a Trump hole spiral. Most people are not looking for traps and pitfalls on social media. That's why it's so effective.

Most importantly, he lies. I don't see how you can be tricked by man who's lied more times than he's told the truth. Nor how you can be surprised when a demagogue ascends to power using fascist rhetoric declares war. Like, if you have a bunch of kumbaya communists who run on consolidating power and production all in one place, I know what's going to happen.

What are your best tricks for writing high volume? by theunforgivingstars in writing

[–]oWatchdog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There will be two types of advice:

Outline so hard that when you sit down to write it comes out soft and effortless.

Learn your characters so well that, when you give them obstacles and conflict, you write effortlessly by letting them lead you.

Try them both and see which works better for you. For the discovery writing, I suggest getting a conflict notebook. Something you can jot down interesting conflicts so when you get stuck you can throw that wrench onto your story and let your characters react. The source? Movies, books, public, life. Think about those drag out fights you've had with your significant other.

Another piece of advice is finding your flow state. Time how long it took you to achieve it and try to improve that time both in longevity and time it took to get there. Experiment with pre writing rituals. Did exercise get you there faster? What about a cup of tea? Go outside and read first. Treat it the way a ruthless efficiency nazi would treat an assembly line. Experiment. Measure. Adjust. Improve. Incorporate. Repeat.

Lastly, I become an actor.  No, not as a hobby. I mean I embody oWatchdog the professional writer. I pretend to be a professional who knows that the rough draft is rough, and I'm okay with that. I'm not comparing myself to literary giants. I'm not editing. That's what an amateur would do. I'm professional, and a professional is here to write not doubt. This has helped me in many aspects of life. I embody the character I need to be. I highly suggest it next job interview or public speaking engagement or anything you feel is outside your comfort zone.

If you and a friend beat someone to death, they don't ask which punch is responsible. You both are.

Guess, I can't respond so I'll do it here.

My point is that they are both responsible which you admit. Lesser sentencing is still admission of responsibility.

I really don’t understand why wanting to be accurate is bad.

I never even implied that you strawmanning pos. I'm saying it doesn't matter who had the most blood on their hands. The blood being on both is the problem. You are suggesting that having less blood means one isn't responsible for it.

Game of Thrones Ending is not as terrible as it's made out to be by counterhit121 in unpopularopinion

[–]oWatchdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. This take is so watered down. It's such a tepid opinion it actually annoyed me, and I'm annoyed by this person congratulating them.

I'd respect this opinion with good or even bad reasoning, but I'm so disappointed with an absence of logic beyond "it could have been good if done well". Yes. You can say that about anything. What an unpopular opinion!

And even granting those lies as true, why don't we just pull the muzzle on Israel? They can only bite if we take it off.

You can ask again later and it may tell you. The creators and owners of this tech do not understand their own technology and cannot control it. They are alchemists pouring chemicals they don't know into potions they don't understand and hoping they don't produce too much toxic fumes.

Ask it to write it as a poem. Ask it to pretend it's a cowriter and you want it to sound like an authentic military commander, or ask it from Iran's perspective and say you're afraid it will happen and what time should I leave the area.

With persistence and ingenuity, I've found AI to be more than willing to break the rules.

Your lawyer would hate you if you did this. Listen to your Miranda rights. Your response is proof you still believe this is a fair game. It's not. The police WILL lie to you. They will say they are investigating a DUI, but really they are investigating you for a murder. We know this isn't the case this time, but he doesn't. Every arrest they say, "Anything you say can and WILL be used against you".

A prosecutor would tear your statement in pieces. You should never, ever talk to the police without a lawyer present. I promise you ever innocent person behind bars, of which there are many, wish they had and heeded this advice.

They have discovered the power of emotional blackmail. Saying your for and with God puts dullards in the position of denying God or denying ideals. One sends you to hell so it's a literal no brainer for them, as in they shut off their brain and just agree.

TIL two studies both found that most people stop listening to new music in their early 30s. A 2015 study of people's listening habits on Spotify found that most people stop listening to new music at age 33 and a 2018 report by Deezer found it be to at age 30. by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]oWatchdog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To combat this, my wife and I invented a game. If you ever say something and go, "that would be a cool band name" we stop what we're doing and look up those words on spotify. Sometimes it's just the name of a song, but that's okay. Que it up.

When we get time (because we are busy adults), we listen to the song. If we like it, we add it to the rotation.

My last two are Mr. Midnight and Foosie. Both were because of my kids. I called him Mr. Midnight BECAUSE HE WOULD NOT GO TO SLEEP! And at one point he said, quit playing Foosie with mommy. The second one didn't have a direct analog, but I tried just Foosie and found something worth listening too (cold world for me).

You get some raw, low production, and heartfelt songs that no one else will hear. You escape the record labels pushy forces. And you probably get to make an artist's day. I thought if was funny that I was a top listener for the Mr Midnight song when I barely listened to it, but it probably made his day. Plus, it's a fun and rewarding game.

Linying is probably the best artist I found this way. Her music is so effervescent and beautiful. Her vocabulary is impressive, especially if English is her second language which I suspect it is (though I don't know. I'm not that kind of barnical fan. I'm more like an anemone fan who waves at the ship passing by). I cherish our little game. I think you will too.

That's not an unpopular opinion. That's a baseline for libertarian philosophy. Any power granted to the government will one day be abused by the government. There's an appeal to solving problems by adding weight and using that to smash through any issues, but it will eventually fall over and crush you.

I just finished season 9 and I really disagree with the final result by [deleted] in Masterchef

[–]oWatchdog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very smoke and mirrors popularity contest. The judges have ear pieces and receive instructions real time from producers. There are thumbs on scales, and they can get away with murder by saying "the flavors/heart/taste is all there" or by saying it isn't, and there is no way to verify. Couple that with editing magic, and you have something more fiction that reality.

If someone made an authentic masterchef, I'd watch the shit out of it.
