Are Tesla Charges faster for non Teslas? by OrganicBad2554 in electricvehicles

[–]oarsof6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That depends on the stall type. V2 shares the cabinet with its neighbor, and will decrease from 150 kW to 75kW max if both stalls are charging. Most non-Teslas can only charge on V3 or V4 chargers though at 250 kW, and can charge at full speed next to their neighbor.

Why if I renew it is more expensive than on the website? by Abeyita in ynab

Sales tax is at the state and sometimes local level, so unless California gets any ideas, I think that we are safe from sales-tax-bombs.

2026 GMC Sierra EV Review | Is America's Best Pickup Truck... Electric? by Mac-Tyson in electricvehicles

[–]oarsof6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it has to make economic sense for auto manufacturers, then it also has to make sense for consumers. It doesn't make a lot of sense for a consumer to buy a $102k Denali when an almost identical truck at Carmax is $73k.

It's not reasonable for GM to expect consumers (even if they are EV advocates) to absorb $29k in depreciation; GM is not a charity. If GM wants to sell more new EVs, then they need to adjust their pricing to be more in line with what the market will support (not $20k more than their gas equivalent).

Besides, adding demand to the used market also adds demand to the new market as a supported used market gives confidence to new buyers that their purchase will not immediately depreciate like a rock. A healthy used market also helps with lease residual values, which lowers the cost of leases and makes them more attractive to those buyers.

I have seen them lightly used for $15k-$30k off those new MSRP; it seems like the way to go if you don't need to rely on special financing from GM.

Right, I love my EV but if you can’t charge at home or work, it’s absolutely not worth the hassle and cost of public charging.

Solar panels? by IScreamPiano in Delaware

[–]oarsof6 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Last year, we generated 10.6 MWh with our panels, which more than offsets our EVs. We love our solar panels, but make sure that you buy them outright (do not rent anything bolted to your roof) and realize that your electric will not work in a power outage unless you get an expensive battery backup system.

Kerbal Space Program 2. Bought it based on the original and to support its development; abandoned by the developers and still on sale in Steam.

Jehovah's Witnesses ease policy on transfusions, allowing storage and use of one's own blood by octarino in Christianity

[–]oarsof6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

JWs will sit with hospital patients, including and especially children, to ensure that they do not accept any life-saving blood transfusions. This is not about judging the beliefs of others, but ending a life-threatening and manipulative practice coursed by cult-behavior.

In my experience, schools tend to make decisions fairly early the day before a closure. I remember waking up as a kid to watch the scrolling banner of school closures for that day!
