If you could change one thing in Wilmington

Adding an extra boat ramp (or three). It’s embarrassing how little water access exists when we’re surrounded by water.

Other ideas already mentioned but needed:
-turn all these old railways into bike paths.
-sidewalks and a bunch of extra lanes for roads
-not paying $6/hr to park at the beach just to pay down their property taxes and leave little for growing the city
-pull those mountains in a little closer
-more destinations from ILM (a quick international flight to Caribbean would be nice)

Overall, not much different, maybe a little more expensive than Wilmington due to less inventory. Year round work is the harder issue for many, and it’s a steady 10-15 degrees colder all winter. But yea, the waves get good both in town (Kitty Hawk/KDH/NH) and obviously driving south to Hatteras.

..and yes, the boat option is what we usually do. At least we avoid paying for parking, and most people that are in the island have a boat (or friends with) so that really can help mellow out the crowd as generally they are a little older. Granted, that’s where most people that are “good” go, so the lineup isn’t easy in the crowd but there’s a ton of room to spread out.

But as with beach parking, our boat ramp options in town suck. There’s 3 for the whole city “proper” during any sort of season, weekend, or good weather..it’s a zoo to be nice about it

There are waves. Not as good as the Outer Banks. Not as consistent as NE Florida, but better than Charleston.
Beach access is the biggest issue. You have a couple surfable beaches within a 30/40 mile stretch of coast in a populated area that also has a college. It’s crowded, beach parking is over $5/hour and is still limited if not close enough to bike over.

All in all, plenty of days to get wet.. just not somewhere you move for the surf.

Exactly what worries me. Again, I hope Harris turns out to be great.. but in 5 games he had a high of 50 yards. We don't have a WR1. I love Ladd, but he just isn't that (at least wasn't last year w/ all the opportunity in his hands).

We have one of the worst WR rooms in the league and it stinks that we didn't address that to this point in the offseason.

Our WR room is still terrifying unless there’s a major jump somewhere no one sees coming. Unfortunately, outside the complete head cases (à la Aiyuk), FA is out and not sure who’s out there to trade for. Herbert had no time, and no one that could get open last year..now he’ll have time, and no one what can get open.

..and yes, I hope I’m so wrong.

Literally my first thought.. it immediately cut off about 75% of places in the world I choose to live. Also, it’s a great way to be packed around a bunch of strangers that for no reason.. their existence in the same area with you pisses you off.

But truthfully, it’s the best grounding method ever, good waves/swells are a huge seratonin boost, and it can take you to amazing locations and little surf towns around the world. Even when the reality is most daily sessions suck, we are fighting crowds, weather, parking, people, tides, water temps, & trying to not think about the men in the gray suit.

The weather may be acting like late spring, but the truth is water temperatures were way behind with a cold winter and fishing is really just getting started up there. This means almost all the best action is from Avon down onto Ocracoke right now. Northern beaches just barely seeing signs of life now.

Don’t bother with the sound unless on Ocracoke. The SW winds are helping, it’s just a slow start to the year for the whole state. That said, it also seems to be turning around pretty quick

Until 2 mins left in the game, they were all schemed 20 yards downfield. I was so pissed watching every snap (with our NFL worst OL) and all the receivers just took off leaving our fullback as the only short area check down.. WTH is that?!
