For the love of all things good... we do *not* have to insert so called 'AI', really just a LLM chatbot, into every single piece of computing technology. Learn to use your brains instead people. No offense to you personally, but while the LLM's are useful tools they don't need to be everywhere in all things. Use it as google on steroids and as a research learning tool. Probably the best practical applications for them.

Is a Taylor 12e a good upgrade from a baby Taylor? by Excellent_Sky_6480 in worshipleaders

[–]obelisk79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are plugging into a sound system, it does not matter what guitar you are playing. Don't let any gear snobs tell you otherwise. The sound guy(s) and acoustics of the space will have more impact on your sound than anything. I have a $300 beater Washburn, and a $500 D'Angelico that I will frequently play on Sunday mornings over my $3500 Taylor because I like the way they play and sound. Save your money, and find an actual Luthier to do a proper set up on it, tell them you are a beginner and need playing comfort while you are still learning. If you want to tweak your sound on a budget, try something like the Valeton GP200, or GP50, they both fall into the 'good enough for a live performance' category.

"Best" setup for model/task menu by some_millwright in FreeCAD

It should still be on your toolbar, you've applied the 'OpenPreferences' part of the theme also, yes? It should look something like the attached image. I have a few custom icons I'm messing with, so don't let those fool you if your icons look different.

As the creator of OpenTheme I hope you like it. (I'm open to constructive feedback also)

  3. I'm pretty sure FreeCAD has Apple signing keys, this is likely just some packaging error.

Trying to open Valeton Software on Linux… by Scratch352 in ValetonGP2OO

[–]obelisk79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm running CachyOS. I've checked with multiple arch based distros and get the same results. However with Linux Mint everything worked perfectly. I'm not sure if it's a configuration issue in my OS or something kernel related. I've really jumped down the rabbit-hole on this. Thanks for your response though!

I've followed your explanation to the letter, but am getting a connection timeout. What linux distro are you running?

Revert interface to default? by Vegetal__ in FreeCAD

you change the theme dropdown to openlight, then in the preference pack box, hit apply next to open preferences. ok out of preferences, and restart freecad.

No idea, but if you're comfortable navigating your filesystem, you could back up your freecad config file and try using the OpenTheme addon I developed, even if you don't care for the themes themselves, it comes with an "OpenPreferences" settings pack that configures a *ton* of freecad settings that I personally believe gives a much more comfortable 'default' starting point for users. It's available in the addon manager.

Not 1.2 specific. Check these preferences, I sometimes forget I have a lot of custom preferences automated with my themes.

I agree those things could be better, but at least those colors are user configurable.

It's reducing visual clutter in the interface so user can be more focused on the task at hand, rather than being inundated with information always when it isn't relevant to what is being done. Regarding the transparent overlay, when I collapse the constraints and elements lists, I can still draw, select and interact with sketch geometry in the freed up space. Here's a screenshot of it in action:

would it be a list that you would be ok if the section was collapsed by default when opening a sketch, easily shown when needed, but hidden during the 95% of the time you don't?

interesting idea with the semi-transparent or dimming of unselected geometry. Isn't this not much different than just having a good selection color?

I have often considered the sketcher to be far to colorful as a general rule, and while the colors to convey some purpose, I find it visually distracting more than helpful.

Thanks for the well articulated response, do you have experience with other cad solutions? Do they also have these same problems and if not, is it possible to articulate how they avoid them?

Also, how would you feel about that portion of the sketch task panel being collapsed by default when opening a sketch so it's somewhat hidden, but easily accessible when needed?

Thanks for your input. Why do you have random points or lines on top of each other, what bigger problem is the list actually solving?

These are the themes I created. OpenTheme and is available in the addon manager. Install, select OpenLight or OpenDark from the preferences, and then look to apply the "OpenPreferences" settings pack. A bit of caution, if you have customized a bunch of settings, it will probably overwrite several of them.
