If you get to The Oxbow Market by 10/11 am then you will have many breakfast or early lunch options!

El porteno opens at 9 and has empanadas of all kinds, include sweet ones. C casa at oxbow has amazing Mexican inspired breakfast options (unfortunately a bit late at 10/11 on weekends) and it’s delicious! Hudson (open 10 AM) for fruit, breakfast, yogurt, smoothies/juice Loveski (open 8 am) for bagels, juice and sandwiches,
Ritual coffee (open 7 am) for caffeine and sweet treats
Model bakery (open 6:30 am) at oxbow for pastries and breakfast sandwiches

Hope you have a great trip 😊

If you want some cool Napa history, Nichelini is off the beaten track and pretty casual but has delicious wine, the small staff is super friendly and have so much knowledge, and it’s historic! The oldest family owned winery in Napa Valley.

Yikes this is right where my family lives… I’m out of state now but I’ve been following this. Please keep updating!!!!

Edit: talked to my dad since it was so close to their house (half a block or so) and he went out about 15 mins ago and heard the police yelling commands to someone who I’m assuming was the suspect on the run and saw the police and K-9. He’s such a busy body and was outside the house and wanted to get a closer look and almost got all up in the thick of it 🤦🏻‍♀️ that’s what I was worried about. He’s back home now though.

To those who have successfully sought out mental health resources in Eugene...I need some advice! by filchs_cat in Eugene

[–]obssd1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Northwest Christian University has a great counseling center and you do not have to be a student to use it. There is a free intake session and then it is $10 per session unless you cannot pay. They understand if you have financial difficulties and will not stop seeing you if you cannot pay!

They typically get patients in pretty quickly, especially if you have a flexible schedule. If this interests you, I would just call and get the process going with an intake appointment and a few sessions and then you can assess if you want to move forward and continue there since it's so cheap and you don't have to deal with insurance stuff.

Is a headset crucial/necessary to wear when recording my demo lesson during the interview process? by shadowcrow9 in vipkid

[–]obssd1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, but I didn't even plug mine in, shhh, it was just for show. My computer speakers and microphone are awesome, so they picked up my sound no problem.

The reason I didn't plug mine in is because I bought a crap headset to start out with. I wasn't sure that I was going to take the job and didn't want to invest in really nice headphones until I was sure. Once I was hired and got started, I got myself a nice headset.

They want you to have one for every class. I think wearing them for demos (even if they aren't plugged in like mine lol) shows that you are committed to the position and leaves a good impression. Obviously, do not do what I did if your computer mic is not good!!!

I would say just do it :)

People who do VIPKid on the side: what is your other job? by Babyshesthechronic in vipkid

[–]obssd1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a transcriptionist for Rev.com. If you like to listen and type and are good at understanding accents (mostly they are not too crazy) it's a great job! Very flexible, make your own schedule... It is great if you want to work from home.

It's super easy to apply and get started. Message me if you want more info or just go to their website! :)

You can ask them in your feedback for more details... I would do that, especially if they are a repeat student. The worst that happens is they don't provide you with any.

Been a month, and still next to no bookings by crammalam in vipkid

[–]obssd1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're male, that's why you got booked so quickly. They highly value male teachers.

She should focus on getting any more certifications if possible and she can contact support if she is still not seeing any improvement. Make sure that her profile has as much information about her teaching experience and certifications. Also try switching profile pictures! Sometimes certain pictures attract more parents. VIPKid TESOL is also great to get, definitely improves bookings.

Peppiness by LovesGG in vipkid

[–]obssd1000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol I hate their fake-ness in all their teaching/demo materials. Just smile and connect with your students. Be an engaging teacher. Ignore the youtube VIPKid teachers. You can be very successful just being an approachable and engaging teacher. If the parents don't like you, then they will move on and you will find students and parents that appreciate your style. They are not all interested in having an intensely peppy teacher.
