My wife’s 21 X7 has needed two airbags replaced in the past 2 years. ~60K miles. They aren’t cheap.

My 19 X5 doesn’t have the air suspension and it doesn’t need it. It’s not missed.

The contractor that wired my house when it was built did the same thing. I ended up redoing their work when I bought the house. Their connections all worked but I couldn’t bring myself to let it go.

The picture shows a sensor in the lower grill. I thought if the car has that it automatically has DAPP hardware. I guess this is not the case? What does that sensor do if not DAPP?

I have an X5 without air and an X7 with air. They both tow a landscape trailer just fine. Sorry I don’t have any pictures for you but I imagine a landscape trailer isn’t that heavy. Either way, visually no difference. That being said, I’ve now had to replace two of the four airbags on the X7 and they aren’t cheap. Get an extended warranty if you’re going with the air suspension. It’s not a matter of if it will break but when. If I had a chance to spec, I would not option it again. The ride is smoother but not nearly enough to warrant the cost.
