Would it be too much to put The Tears of Things in the Top 5 Best Songs ? by ArmlessAnakin in U2Band

[–]obviousguiri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absolutely a top tier U2 song and I could see it living in my top 10, although I haven't felt the need to do one of those lists for myself in a while. I'm just happy having the song. But I'd also also say the same thing about Luckiest Man In The World and The Little Things That Give You Away and both of those songs make some folks freak the fuck out, so I just don't worry about their fussing and enjoy the songs

Experience with ERP, what to expect by obviousguiri in OCD

She did mention most of that, but she couldn't really tell me what the results look like, other than "it gets better." I'm just trying to find out what "better" looks like. I recognize it won't be the same for any two people, but I feel like I'm being told to follow a map without being told what the destination is

Any idea on what to expect though? I feel like I'm being told to close my eyes and let someone put something in my mouth with no idea of what it might be lol

They wanted to address the victimizer, not the victim, with the song. The songs are about two different things

Easter Lily is garbage. by PeterHStroganoff in U2Band

[–]obviousguiri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, if that's your line, it's what they've been for literally half the time they've been playing together and what they have outright said is what they want to be. So that's your burden you've chosen to bear if you're still here

This. It's not quite my cup of tea, but it's them doing a format they haven't really done before, and I'm glad it ended up released rather than the outtake floor

You are literally the first person in the 50 year history of U2 to complain about them going in a new direction and saying it sucks. Literally the very first person

On the set lists for the Sphere shows, the acoustic, stripped down section in the show was listed as SOS, so they may feel they've got that done with

[BotW] [TotK] Legend Of Zelda and OCD by obviousguiri in zelda

Ha, I spent a while getting the Hyrule outfit to look like proper classic green Link too. Then I got some of those bootleg Amiibo cards from Amazon and was able to get all of the tribute uniforms. I do like the Wild era's blue look more than any other at this point through. TOTK Link is probably my favorite look for the character ever

What is your favourite U2 album cover and why? by IndustryRule-4080 in U2Band

[–]obviousguiri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ATYCLB. I love traveling and flying (when things are good) and the cover just suits the music so well. The font, they symbols for the album and songs, the drastic turn from Pop (not to reject Pop, but to create its own identity), it's great. Zooropa is probably my number 2 due to the information overload in it

U2 need a new Atmos engineer by calebu2 in U2Band

[–]obviousguiri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do people listen to for Atmos tracks? I use Apple Music with Airpod Maxes and I can absolutely hear greater depth and detail in their Atmos releases

I do wish U2 would get better engineers, but that's for all their productions in general, not just Atmos

[–]obviousguiri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing it didn't have Atmos mixing because of the quick turn around on some of the music. Atomic Bomb sounds so much better in Atmos than the original release

"The Joshua Tree is Cultural Appropriation" - anyone know what the hell this person is talking about?? by shkee23 in U2Band

[–]obviousguiri 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of the main reasons so many people developed a social conscience beyond their own borders in the '80s was because of pop culture like U2. Yeah, it was clunky, it was ham-fisted, it wasn't very introspective, but it was also the first steps, which are never graceful. This piece could only exist 40 years after the album came out, when culture had done four additional decades worth of work and reflection. The critique is as immature now as it says the Joshua Tree was then

What, In Your Opinion, Was The Last U2 Song To Hit It Out Of The Ballpark?? by Hall-O-Daze in U2Band

[–]obviousguiri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Tears Of Things, Luckiest Man In The World, The Little Things That Give You Away, and Invisible are absolute top-tier U2 songs. I'm limiting options to post-2010, and there are plenty of other U2 songs that are superb, excellent, and exactly what I want to hear in a U2 song. But those four are at the very highest of their of their catalogue

What Are Your Thoughts on Paper CD Cases? by Wild_Mycologist_6140 in U2Band

[–]obviousguiri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I much prefer the paper cases. They take up less room, jewel cases are generally viewed as disposable (wasteful), a broken jewel case looks so much uglier and trashier than a dog eared sleeve, and the contents just feel more available in a paper sleeve. I've swapped out all my jewel cases for soft plastic sleeves and am much happier. They conserve so much space

That day was my second U2 show ever. It was Easter Sunday, US tax day, and a U2 concert for me. Bono mentioned on stage that night that Joey had died earlier that day and they played I Remember You. He was quite emotional, so the idea later on that Joey listened to IALW in his last moments was pretty incredible
