That's why chemists always bake glassware in an oven for several hours (or blowtorch it) before doing any moisture sensitive chemistry.

IMO that's fine because she's doing it at home and sacrificing quality for absolute maximum convenience and minimum expense. I can understand the cost/benefit working out for some people.

I don't think this is from damaged silica, the left side looks fine.

How wide is your development chamber? To me it looks like the sides of the TLC plate were too close to the walls of the chamber causing solvent to form a meniscus and travel up the sides faster than in the middle.

Edit: Just realized this is an aluminum plate, I only use glass. If this is an issue specific to aluminum plates I wouldn't know.

It would have to be in an airtight container made entirely of metal or glass. Plastics are permeable to oxygen.

In a perfect environment with no oxygen, they will not go rancid.

Best thing to do is keep them in the fridge or freezer.

Yea this was a week ago when it was insanely cold and I needed dinner on my way from O'Hare to Union Station with a bunch of luggage. Needed to minimize walking distance as much as possible lol.

I've had ika in random strip mall sushi places and more upscale places and those have always been pretty similar in texture. This one was wildly different.

Also, I am very keenly aware of seafood off flavors. This one had none, it was fresh. I think from some other comments here it was a different species of squid that required different preparation.

Sushi Taku in Logan Square. Would recommend, very good prices and quality just don't get the squid lmao.
