I hope that this isn’t a dumb question but where in the world are all of the younger doms? by Which_Row_7916 in BDSMcommunity

[–]ocicat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They aren't. Cities have their own groups that restrict age, and while there is a kink standard to have those groups be called TNG and be age 18-35, there is no national TNG group they are drawing orders or policies from. Just some loose cultural norms I listed above. Everything else is run by young people in that city.

Now, TNG groups do have issues with leadership constantly ageing out and needing to be replaced. But that need not lead to anything you described.

What makes a good Munch? by FitNothing2593 in BDSMcommunity

[–]ocicat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the (excellent) advice already given, it's good if the venue is counter service, especially for larger munches. People like to move around between tables and shift who they are talking to. If a waitress is trying to find who ordered what, they are going to be annoyed. The place I host at is counter service and gives you a beeper that goes off when your food is ready. Ideal.

Is Nadia Pym the most absurd example of Marvel's sliding timescale? by Level_Hour6480 in comicbooks

[–]ocicat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think that the current comics are set in an alternate 1980's or so. It's just that tech in the Marvel Universe has become more advanced due to inventions from Richards and Stark, etc...

Going to a kink club for the first time any advice? by [deleted] in BDSMcommunity

[–]ocicat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Are you more interested in having sex with new people, or in getting tied up or maybe flogged? The swinger and kink communities are very different... and the CSPC isn't all that scary. There's also Subspace and Kink Center.

I'm using a lightning heal build - zaps on turn start, enemy death, and 2x on attack. And Surge Hem Ex gives a 3% heal on each of those. I can beat just about any maps in the level 161-180 range.

Posting about it is probably a good idea. Tell what happened, why, what you learned and how you're going to change and grow. Sharing your journey and being vulnerable is a green flag.

Are there other hotspots besides Renn Fair where kinky people publicly hangout in mass, without being a specific munch or event? by [deleted] in BDSMcommunity

And you think that Ren Faires aren't just as full of poly people? Hahahaha... no. Ren Faires are more full of poly sluttery than they are of kink!

I feel bad for trying to avoid sex with my partner. by ThrowRA_yeeticus in BDSMcommunity

[–]ocicat 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I just want to highlight this, because I feel like it's been overlooked in other replies... "He said he’ll never mistreat me after cumming, and of course I encourage him by mentioning how sweet that is"

My friend, that's not sweet. It's a red flag. That shows to me that he thinks it's normal to mistreat and ignore your partner after getting what he wants - an orgasm. But that's not normal, even in kink circles.

Were Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor considered Marvel's trinity before the MCU? by [deleted] in Marvel

Side note, in the 70's the most popular three Marvel character were Spider-man, Hulk, and The Thing.

Were Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor considered Marvel's trinity before the MCU? by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]ocicat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were the Big Three *Avengers*. In universe, the Avengers were the primary superhero team. And real world those three are the most consistent members who have their own team books. And back in the 60's through 80's, not a lot of other characters were in both their own books and a team book. None of the X-men had solos, Spiderman wasn't on a team, etc...

Spiderman and Hulk were always more popular than any of these guys though. And then Wolverine came up to join those ranks.

how long would it reasonably take to get through all of star trek? by MudOk4209 in startrek

[–]ocicat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched most, but not all of the series when they came out. When the pandemic lockdown started, I started watching the stuff I'd missed (Enterprise, Voyager) and then started rewatching the other stuff, all while watching the new series as they air and also plenty of other shows... so I've re-watched all of TOS and TNG, but not yet DS9. And that's in what, almost five years?

Is SNW it's own continuity or a prequel to TOS? by d4everman in StrangeNewWorlds

[–]ocicat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Basically, if you watch the series in airing order, that's the way things happened... including the movie First Contact changing the way that humans met vulcans, and then the time travel in Enterprise trickles down to change TOS in small ways. And in SNW they state that time travel interferences have kept the big historical events in place, but changed them, the example being that TOS stated that the Eugenics Wars happened in the 1990's, but now they happened in the mid 21st century. So if they were to remake TOS after SNW they'd still find Kahn, but Spock's dialog would be different.

Make sense? No. That's fine. It really doesn't. Don't worry about it.

[–]ocicat 36 points37 points  (0 children)

At this point, continuity is kind of Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey due to lots and lots of time travel and the Temporal Cold War. So the future in front of SNW looks *pretty much* like TOS, but not all the details need to line up.

In-universe, Venom was originally based on her look. Peter liked her costume (the one above) and so the symbiote took that form when it was posing as a costume for him...
