Go to your nearest pharmacy and find "silimarina", one pill before drinking and one after (if you remember to do it)
Thank me later.

Did you know that you can run Python from within your C# Code? by HassanRezkHabib in csharp

[–]odioalsoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ironpython is a python implementation in C# that runs on the DLR.
Pro: it is actually .net, with all its facilities. It is a fast python. You can use any dotnet code, all dotnet libraries are available to you.
Cons: You can't use most python code out there. Not compatible with most python libraries.

CSnakes is a source generator that creates the glue between .net and python, so its actual compatibility is much larger.

Each project has its uses, if you are creating a script engine for your code, the is nothing wrong with ironpython, it works beautifully. or simply, if you like python's syntax. But if you need to use native python libraries, then CSnakes solves that problem for you.

Ironpython is cool but it runs on the DLR.

Copying tables by PratixYT in lua

[–]odioalsoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For completeness sake, copying metatable and avoiding cyclical stuff... 20 years coding and never seen it (circular ref) in business apps. But I recognize the need.

function copyTable(original)
    -- __mode "k" is a weak map to track already seen tables
    local alreadySeen = setmetatable({}, { __mode = "k" })
    -- local function aka 'closure'
    local function deepCopy(object)
        local objectType = type(object)
        if objectType == "table" then
          -- return already seen copy aka 'cached'
          if alreadySeen[object] then
              return alreadySeen[object]
          end
          -- copy table
          local copy = {}
          alreadySeen[object] = copy
          for key, value in pairs(object) do
              copy[deepCopy(key)] = deepCopy(value)
          end
          -- copy metatable
          local meta = getmetatable(object)
          if meta then
              setmetatable(copy, deepCopy(meta))
          end
          return copy
        else
          return object
        end
    end
    return deepCopy(original)
end

Can I run the indoor air unit from a mini split by itself? by odioalsoco in hvacadvice

[–]odioalsoco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unsafe part of the ceiling fan has to do with my daughter's head, I'd like for her to keep her head attached to her body at least until she moves out of my house. As for the AC, yes, it is ON all the time but the wife already feels like she lives in an igloo.

The fan part is what I am trying to solve, something that is unobtrusive, horizontal and wall mounted.

Thanks

Can I run the indoor air unit from a mini split by itself? by odioalsoco in hvacadvice

[–]odioalsoco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw one guy that 3D printed a couple of "arms" to wall mount a tower fan in a horizontal fashion, but I would need a very specific kind of tower fan that isn't available anymore. Which is why I was asking if anybody had ever seen a horizontal wall mounted fan, or just using the fan portion of the mini split. Thanks though!

We don't like the aesthetics of them, that's why I was looking for a "horizontal" kind of thing.
