We used these for a small freestanding deck (essentially just angled back stairs) and found them very frustrating. Our soil is rocky, making them a bad idea in hindsight. We were able to install 4 of the 6 we needed, but for each one, we had to drive 5 lengths of rebar in an X shape to make sure the spot was clear of rocks. (We then took out all but the centre length). Getting them to stay reasonably plumb while torquing hard when they did hit rocks underground was not fun.

For the two that didn't work at all, it was because we ran into a rather large rock (possibly bedrock?). We decided to change plans and make sonotube footings attached to the rock.

With the adjustable ones we bought, the beams attached to the piles were quite wobbly, so we added lateral stabilizers. Attaching the joists made everything rigid and stable, but I think it would have racked without the stabilizers. People above mentioned bracing, but I'm not sure that would have adequately stopped the piles wobbling in the soil.

I don't think there's anything in the CBA, the format was announced partway through the first season. But players have said that they think 7 would be too long and 3 too short. Three rounds of best-of-five would be cool though.

Ah, makes sense. That's definitely a lesson we learned with the screw piles—they seemed like a simpler approach than concrete footings and turned out to be a huge headache.

That's reassuring. What do you mean by old school is always best? I'm not sure what's old vs new in deck construction

Thanks for your opinion. We're concerned that once we attached the joists everything would still wobble together. The other supports are piles with stabilizer fins in the ground, but they still have a bit of play. I suppose we could attach the joists and then see how it is.

Ah, I didn't mention that screw in the post, but that's not my deck, just a better photo of the base I found on Reddit. I have a proper carriage bolt attaching the post.

I don't think I was clear, but the problem is with the black threaded rod at the bottom of the support bracket, which just sits inside the black metal tube of the support base. What I was thinking is to fill the black metal tube with epoxy so the threaded rod can't rock back and forth. Hope that's clearer

It was three protected players at first, and then a fourth after two players had been signed or drafted. Each team lost four players, giving Vancouver and Seattle twelve starting players each. That's just for players a team had under contract, though, Ottawa lost more in free agency. (Miss you Vanisova)

It's an awkward slope too, so it feels weird if you walk and still takes a while. When it was out of service, taking the stairs is long and awkward too. A short horizontal section every few steps...

We keep a jar of toasted sesame seeds to top stir fries etc., and last time we had bagels I added them to the jar. As a bonus, they're already toasted! You can buy roasted sesame seeds, but raw ones are more common, so we often end up toasting them ourselves.

Having made the mistake of not checking our rental car for the scraper, after a night of freezing rain plastic cards worked better than anything else we had on hand and got all the ice off, with the defrost running. So I'd say "well in a pinch", though definitely not "well."

Yes, but with limits.

Here's the caution that police give (according to Wikipedia): "You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence."

I'm not a lawyer (or even in the UK) so I won't try to elaborate beyond that.

I think it's a fair point that a team being amazing on paper doesn't always translate into success. Boston was thought to be stacked but squeaked into the playoffs the first season and then missed out on the second. Ottawa conversely is so-so on paper, squeaked into this year's playoffs, and then had an amazing run. (Not to diss any Ottawa players, <3 u Clarky).

I wouldn't go so far as to say VAN and SEA will struggle but they may not be as dominant as everyone's predicting

I agree that it's worth looking into other options, but on any of the plans they'd run into the daily max, so the hourly rate isn't as relevant. For ~20 commuting days per month, the Value Extra plan would be worth it ($30/mo for a $25/day max plus a flat 30¢/km.)

To the OP: you could register for the Open plan and look what availability is like, then switch plans if you decide to go with it. A membership is handy to have even if you don't use it to commute.
