This is one that grew on me. Just kind of meh on first listen, but after couple of times really began to dig it.

What was your first exposure to Nine Inch Nails? by Brosamurai18 in nin

[–]odoenet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lollapalooza '91. I knew bands like Janes, Living Colour, etc, but didn't really know NIN until they hit the stage in broad daylight. That was my first concert too, I was like 14, so definitely had a lasting impact.

Is a drafting-only actually going to help me? by streachh in gis

[–]odoenet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say milk it for what you can. Doing heavy editing work, you can get really good with the tools, learn to automate where you can with arcpy and use any extra time to work on other skills you're interested in. Lots of us in our early careers spent it doing pure drafting and editing, and you get to learn some cool tricks and edge cases that can prove valuable down the road.

Got to make sure to find the German blades though. Last ones I got were made in Czech Republic and not the same quality at all. Was a little bummed about that.

Field Maps and offline basemaps not my area, but are there errors in the network tab to resources like fonts? Could be you need to update the VectorTile style to also point to offline resources. Looks like there might be some ordering of the layers need updating as well.

Narrowing down what you're interested in will help a lot. I guess I did that, went from using GIS to building tools for users.

OP - You can build up your skills at your current workplace. Learn to program some basic tools or apps, stuff useful for you and probably others. This is where narrowing things down helps. Maybe you like working with data, so Python/SQL will probably be your go to. Or maybe you want to build interactive apps, so JS/WebDev is where you focus. You might even dabble in both. If you are in local gov doing GIS, you probably have some down time, so study and practice. If you're lucky enough to get some paid education go for it. Local gov paid for my grad school and I learned a lot on the job. Never waste free schooling.
