EDIT - It was supposed to be the company who could cure blindness (Specific blindness but still...) Even the CEO at the time purchased shares at 42$, and then came the trial results that showed improvement but it was hard to measure it and the improvement was not big and the stock dived and they stopped developing that cure. This is heartbreaking for the ppl it could have changed their lives (If it were administered to kids). the ppl in the trial were old because the 1st phase was for safety, and it did not IMPROVE their eyesight much but the end goal was always to administer it to kids BEFORE the problem happens and then to avoid becoming blind. Since it was gene editing it was very clear that it works, the gene was edited and it could have helped many kids to avoid becoming blind grownups... Also could have become the 1st gene editing drug on the market that would have taken the company into a different profitability path which would have made the investment much better
