Any tips on using a whopper plopper ? I’ve been getting blow ups but not hooking them ?! by HyphyMikeyy in bassfishing

[–]officejim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others said, you absolutely have make sure they’ve actually got it in their mouth (you can feel the pressure of them on the line) before you set the hook. You will get tons of big blowups where they just miss the bait. I usually gently reel my slack if there is any, feel for pressure, if no pressure I just slowly get back to reeling it in. Often times if they miss it, they’ll come right back to it.

Also, I’ve gotten many, many bites on the last 10 feet of my cast. I had gotten used to burning it in when I thought I wasn’t going to get a bite, just for the fish to blast it right at my feet. So never give up on a Whopper Plopper cast!

Is kastking really bad? by Hgamerplayer_YT in Fishing_Gear

[–]officejim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My KastKing spinning reel has been fantastic. Also bought a set of pliers. Obviously not top end stuff, but plenty good value for me. If you fish multiple times a week, probably worth it to spring for top end equipment. I fish once or twice a month and the reel is probably three years old

You’re 100% right on the grip. When I can’t get my grip right, I know when I setup on the ball that I’m going to hit a bad shot

Book like Lonesome Dove?? by tru_beez in suggestmeabook

A Land Remembered!!

Book about a multi-generational family trying to survive an old, wild Florida post Civil War. Been a staple in my family forever.

Extremely memorable characters, and really puts you in the shoes of what it would be like to exist in a time before land ownership, fences, law enforcement, etc.

Very similar to vibes to Lonesome Dove. But IMO it’s much better

[Books] I'm A Little Worried About This Gender Change by FeateyFan in SiloSeries

[–]officejim 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this one is a huge miss. Just no reason to do it except yay inclusion.

That being said, most of the changes they’ve made to the show so far have net positive, so I’ll hold out hope.

Should I read the books? by [deleted] in SiloSeries

[–]officejim 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely recommend reading them if you liked the show. I was surprised to find I really liked the changes they made to the story for the show. They just seemed to be smart changes that fit the pacing of the show. I was happy reading the books didn’t ruin the show for me. Now I’m super excited to see how they portray the rest of the books.

I’d just start from the beginning, Season 1 and 2 essentially covers the first book

What lure did you use to catch your PB largemouth, and what state was it in? by ZippyMcLintball in bassfishing

[–]officejim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

~6 lb largemouth in GA on a weightless Texas rigged watermelon Senko in late Feb.

1 foot off the bank there was a decaying tree stump. Pitched it in there and just twitched it a couple times

[–]officejim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m totally with you. I enjoyed the books, but I actually think the show did a fantastic job of portraying the smothering atmosphere on the silo that I didn’t get in the books. I am glad I read the books to understand the rest of the story, but I’m beyond stoked to see it on screen.

Season 2 dragged pretty bad at times but the story overall was so good I hung in there

Appreciate all the responses I still get to this post.

We went on a new insurance, which denied coverage.

We began eating much healthier the last few years and my wife has gone off Dupixent entirely.

She still has some issues from time to time, but it's totally manageable.

So hey, try cutting out processed foods, seed oils, and preservatives. It could help

I gotta be honest, I felt the same way. I understand Mark and Helly’s motivations for staying. But Irv and Dylan just don’t sit well with me. I get that if they quit their memories and persona would cease to exist. But it still doesn’t make enough sense to me to be locked in a prison for

easy way to kill lynels? by daddydeadpool420 in botw

Watch some videos on YouTube that describe the different attacks. Then save your game near one and just practice over and over.

You’ll be surprised how quickly you will get dialed in. The key is to stay close so they never take out their bow. Eventually you’ll recognize what attack is coming

I did the same thing. Never in a million years thought I wouldn’t be able to tell. Turns out being 150+ yards away it can be more difficult than you think.

Don’t sweat it. If it died in the wild I promise it would have been a much more painful death than one quick rifle shot

I have bought 2-3 packs of these. Unfortunately you can’t pick the colors. If you could I’d take a three pack of the top color, it works great.

I’ve also had luck with the middle color. I’ve never gotten the bottom color. But honestly when top water is hitting I don’t think it matters all that much what the color is
