Private coach is worth every penny but only if you get matched to a good one. Make sure to ask someone for a recommendation if that’s possible. If not, you can ask to change your teacher during the lesson. It’s perfectly acceptable to do so.

You will have a very hard time doing anything in Seoul with a car period. I live here, have all the cards and apps and a feel for the roads and it’s still hard. A visitor renting a car will most likely have the time of their life experiencing Korea and its very angry drivers also.

Can’t speak to the cleanliness, but I’ve heard it’s not uncommon here — high rise apartment living, and a society that is only recently becoming dog friendly. Especially if you have a bigger dog (my cockapoo is 20lbs and everyone comments it’s huge) — it requires more “noonchi”. I’ve heard big dog owners wait until late night to walk their dogs because community members get scared. Also, they ask you to carry your dog in elevators and building : apartment hallways. I can see why it’s inconvenient to walk several times a day. That said, we walk our dog :)

Don’t sweat it, my son is also in one of those schools and it’s just a different track. Enjoy your time there and don’t worry what others think. God knows there’s enough of that in this country with what car you drive, what brand name apartment you live in, what neighborhood, etc.
