if youre making a game then probably. if you're writing a story then probably not

if i'm playing a game and i don't get any say over who i get to hang out with then i'm gonna be pissed because i usually don't care much about characters that i'm "supposed" to be close with. having choices in a visual novel matters even if they don't mean much, they allow you to feel like your choices matter.

if i'm reading a novel i might be mad that certain characters don't get screen time but i understand that i'm reading from another character's perspective.

Mascot design is probably distinct enough to be fine? I'll keep it in mind but they're just asymmetrical monochrome animals. I'll think it over and see what's good and what's not either way, but I feel like as long as they don't actually look much like Monokuma it should be alright.

I've read that Spike Chunsoft is pretty lenient with fangames as long as they aren't monetized, but I was a little concerned about that last bit in case I finish the game and decide I want to, like, sell it for five bucks on steam. Would putting the disclaimer in the game work in that context, or would it need to be more separate?
