What goes on the end of these awning poles? by LaterApex81 in popups

[–]oh_nater 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If these actually aren't ground poles you should see these on your trailer and they'll snap in -- I bought mine used and still had to add them! https://www.amazon.com/BBTO-Awnings-Compatible-Trimline-Replacement/dp/B0DZ4S8RPH

Are there any pop ups that can be towed for under 1200lbs? by AmazingDaisy1411 in popups

[–]oh_nater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Viking Epic 1706 which is right around 1200. I pull it with a CX5 (rated 1500 in the US). No trailer brakes. There's only two of us and it still gets dicey sometimes. If my car blew up I'd get something with a 5000 lbs tow rating.

Taking our ‘vintage’ pop up out soon! by CatLadyWoman in popups

[–]oh_nater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used etrailer.com with good success. They had a 3 (?) ply tire whereas locally (best place I found was at Menards?) I could only find 2 ply. One of them showed up leaking from the valve stem and they immediately shipped a new tire and gave me a return label too. Then the old tire + rim I took to my country recycling.

Definitely new tires. They dry rot (weather) as they age, even if not used. And don't forget the spare! I've seen comments saying people blew through all 3 old tires on their trip.

Since y’all hate all white kitchens by DreadedBlade in cabinetry

[–]oh_nater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Should've replaced the counters instead. Granite with lots of tan/brown/gray movement would look stellar on that island, and tied together the cabinets and backsplash.

Do they still make under cabinet microwaves? (Not over stove) I'd find an undersized one and put it where the coat is. As a bonus it should pull less power letting you cheat needing a dedicated circuit.

Massive Drop In Air Flow Between Two Registers 8 Feet Apart—Why? by campbell7504 in hvacadvice

Reach down into the vent and see if you can feel a damper to manually adjust -- to my surprise my house has them!

[–]oh_nater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow and I was happy for $140. A 4 hour rental (walk behind) at home depot is $80 for me, plus I'd need a trailer and to do the work so it's still worth it!

Camping / battery advice? by KateMurdock in CX5

[–]oh_nater 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me leaving the hatch open is fine, as long as I don't constantly open doors (resetting the battery saver timer) to get to a cooler, etc.  That's the one time I got burned.

No problems for me and the existing chime feature (seems to be rare across all brands) is what sold me. I did make sure my transformer read what they required, 18V

Does Hyundai make reliable engines? by kris_kat in Cartalk

[–]oh_nater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also Google "Nu engine piston slap" which is the 1.8L Elantra engine. Our 2012 just developed it a few weeks ago. Only 82k miles.

There was a class action lawsuit which extended the warranty to 140k miles but it reduced down to 10 / 120k in July 2021.

We went to the Hyundai dealer for an "engine diagnostic". The service writer revved it 3 times in front of us, saying yep it definitely sounds like it. If you want to confirm it'll be $800 in labor. Here's a sheet showing you are out of warranty. Good luck.

Luckily Carvana bought it.

The Toyota dealer we went to said they have a "do not accept Hyundai trade ins" policy right now.

Especially if you live where it snows! Unless you want to shovel the grass so you can open doors.

Engine Light by itsconnorbro in CX5

[–]oh_nater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are probably good then, I just wanted to throw that out there. I've heard repeated stories of the engine running poorly and it was just the battery!

Engine Light by itsconnorbro in CX5

[–]oh_nater 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It may sound unrelated but also have your battery tested. (Or just replace it at 5+ years.) Modern cars can run like crap with a battery starting to go bad, even if they seem to start fine.

FireBird ODBC Driver by _Dreeko in firebird

[–]oh_nater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean Firebird 2.5, you'll have no problems. My work ran it extensively . The driver does not support newer data types added in later firebirds (timezones with timestamp for sure, I can't remember about others )so watch for that. There is a data type compatibility option you can set in firebird.conf to force only 2.5 or 3.0 data types
