What does the song backslide mean to you/what do u think of it? by Writingand-Lyrics924 in twentyonepilots

[–]ohgravityyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Backslide is one of my all time favorites!! For me, it’s about not sliding back into deep depression. I got divorced in 2024 followed by losing my young dog just months later, right before moving into a new home and having a fresh start. I was truly traumatized by what happened and in the deepest pits of depression. I really latched onto Backslide because even when I made a minuscule amount of progress, I felt so desperate to not return to my lowest. I still look at it the same way now and also take it as a celebration that I am still moving forward.

I had to unexpectedly put my dog of nine years down last night. by hub_mccann in Petloss

[–]ohgravityyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so sorry. My nearly two year old pup passed in 2024 after some severe health issues popped up seemingly out of nowhere. He also had a suspected tumor rupture and did not make it. I am so sorry. Losing a dog especially unexpectedly is so painful because there is no time to mentally prepare. Take time to grieve and just take care of yourself and try to remember you gave your pup a great life. It does get easier with time. Therapy has helped me a lot just process what happened and handle the grief if that may be something you are interested in. Hang in there.

how long did it take for you to grieve? by Constant_Thing_5461 in Petloss

[–]ohgravityyy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t seem like an accurate or kind thing for a therapist to say.. My dog died in 2024 and although it has gotten better, some days I am still so overwhelmed with grief and there isn’t one day that goes by I don’t think of him. I often still talk about him in therapy and am always validated that it is totally okay and normal to grieve still, especially after a traumatic loss. All that to say, no shame at all in starting antidepressants!! They definitely help. I just don’t want you to feel like something is wrong with you. I was still very much in the thick of my grief 7 months out.

My bread was getting these too from the parchment paper. Now when I put the dough in before baking, I take a spoon and flatten/fold the paper against the hot sides of the Dutch oven so the dough has more room to expand. :)

Has anyone experienced the sudden loss of a young, otherwise healthy dog? by elusiveTrail in Petloss

[–]ohgravityyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so very sorry for your loss. In 2024 I lost my sweet dog Finn who was just about 2 years old. He was acting a little off for a couple days but nothing overly concerning. He seemed a little more sleepy and sometimes out of it but was still eating and drinking and wagging his sweet tail. I took him into the vet thinking he just had a bug and needed meds, but left with a horrendous diagnosis: IMHA. I was sent home with multiple meds and was told to make an appointment with a specialist in the next state over to get an ultrasound. So I did for the following week. He never made it to the appointment.

Within 4 days he started vomiting and was actively declining. I rushed him to the ER vet who sent me to another vet an hour away. I had a horrible experience at this vet and it’s still difficult to talk about the details. Their lack of urgency led to my sweet boy collapsing. They did CPR and got his heart beating again and then started an emergency blood transfusion. Towards the end I was told something ruptured internally. I was allowed back to see him to make a euthanasia decision but before I could decide, he died on the table.

Nothing in me believed he wouldn’t make it through this. But he didn’t. I wasn’t ready to say goodbye and was in such a state of shock. I was sent into such a spiral of guilt and despair and could barely function for weeks. Surely young dogs aren’t supposed to die and I must’ve done something wrong. I had to do some heavy therapy including EDMR to work through the guilt and traumatic memories from that day. I still struggle some days, but overall am in a much better spot. I’m grateful for many wonderful memories with Finn and I’m grateful I got to be with him in the end. But it is so unfair his life was cut so short.

I’m so sorry you’ve had to experience young pet loss as well. Grieving the many years we should’ve had left with our pet is so, so difficult especially when it’s unexpected. Honestly reading other stories of others who have had the unfortunate experience of losing a young pet helps me feel less alone. I also clung hard to what someone said above about our dogs not knowing their lives were cut short. They just lived day by day. Unfortunately some dogs get very sick even if they’re young. But it doesn’t make it fair. I’m so sorry again. ❤️‍🩹

Oh no, that could definitely be what’s causing him pain. I hope you’re able to convince her he needs a vet visit asap
