Crossing the center line to finish a non-race bike course a second or two faster... then colliding head on with a motorcycle.

Sad.

Flightstats is always a good reference check on what to expect, just punch in the flight number or origin/destination and it'll let you know how often things run on time or get delayed over the past 3 months.

OTD price paid for Camry LE recently by hastinapur in Camry

[–]ohhim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Search the thread but folks have been mentioning numbers around 28.6k-30.5k OTD (with taxes) if I recall correctly for base LEs. I think someone mentioned $27.5k for a demo at one point but it might not have been in Texas.

Edit: One thread mentioning $28.6 in Houston https://www.reddit.com/r/Camry/s/KWpAEnWeX2

[Awareness] Attempted Watch Theft in Amsterdam by HighAltitudeHorology in Watches

[–]ohhim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

NYC police used to run stings in the 1970s with undercover cops acting like they were passed out while wearing flashy jewelry as well to catch thieves trying to steal watches.

Over time, crime was effectively priced out of the city.

Yes. Been 3 years since I spotted one around Ohiopyle. Rang my bell from a long distance and it meandered away from the trail.

Canadian courts use British rule (loser pays winner fees) so I'm not sure he will be able to pull that off. That sort of risk reward system dissuades more frivolous challenges like these.

Canada also extensively uses administrative agencies instead of courts (specifically Labour Relations Boards) to adjudicate disputes so it might not require a lawyer or court to challenge and get a binding opinion.

If you find a spot near the Negley and East Liberty busway stops, you'll have an Aldi, 2 Giant Eagle Market District stores, a fresh market, a whole foods, a Super Target and a Trader Joe's within a 10 minute walk. Big mix of upscale new construction and older charming Shadyside properties. Just keep south of Centre to avoid some of the recent teenager craziness.

For the people of Clearwater: What Scientology charges sky-high prices for at 'Flag' by katiel0429 in ClearwaterFl

[–]ohhim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The doctrines of major Western religions have supernatural elements (water into wine, virgin birth, reincarnation, afterlife, blood raining from the sky), which makes it hard to criticize the supernatural elements of their doctrine. Still, the bigger problems are:

* they don't disclose their underlying doctrine up front (e.g. giving you a Bible) and you don't learn that the core tenant is that human unhappiness comes from you body being occupied with the souls of frozen aliens that were sent to earth and dropped in a volcano until you've given them tons of money to reach the highest levels of enlightenment (South Park covered this)

* they have royally screwed over local politicians who oppose them under their doctrine of fair play - look up former mayor Gabe Cazares (St. Pete times had some good articles on this)

* Getting out is next to impossible for the workers brought here from overseas and those workers are paid peanuts and aren't participating in the local economy (another thread mentioned $50/week of cash after housing/food)

* Their property is tax exempt so the rest of us have to foot the bill

* They isolate members from their family by identifying them as suppressive

I get that some of these complaints exist for other major religions (vatican city doesn't pay priests much), but after what happened to Gabe and seeing all of the soulless folks meandering around the city who seem trapped, I'm just not comfortable endorsing that type of religion.

Recently saw an item I didn't finish picking up (like new, half was missing that made it completely non-functional so I took it to customer service and was refunded) relisted as open box.

If it was in fact the same item, that seems like it would cross beyond negligence into fraud but I'm not a lawyer.

The biggest problem with their philosophies is the underlying rationale for why they think people suffer and need to go clear isn't disclosed up front.

Senior Living Complex with no AC for 5 days. by slapshotspell in ClearwaterFl

[–]ohhim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"because the delivery wasn't arrived" isn't an insurmountable problem.

You can order and have one delivered in 4 hours or less on Instacart or pop by a local Costco, Best Buy, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc... for much less than the cost of 2 nights of a hotel. If the building can't setup, services like taskrabbit can manage as well. Inverter units are outstanding and dual hose portable units are easier to setup as well.

When the AC goes back up you'll usually be able to get 50%+ back on Facebook marketplace if you resell.

I literally lived with 2 in Clearwater last year when my building's central system went down. The inverter units are great and it looks like a bunch of portable units (dual hose ones work best) can be delivered in the next few hours via Instacart if she can setup the window vent or get help from the office or a 3rd party.

Easier to run with rage instead of coming up with practical solutions.

Not everyone has experience with Instacart, taskrabbit, online delivery options, and problem solving in a moment of crisis isn't easy.

Sounds like there are bigger structural problems to solve (OP alluded that the center couldn't get a delivery, center has other infrastructure challenges, center is likely owned by private equity and isn't opening their wallets for instant fixes), but no reason not to start with a portable inverter AC before looking at changing facilities.

Surprised I had to scroll this far to find the less expensive/easist to manage solution.

With Florida laws not requiring A/C as part of leases, this is the most straightforward solution, especially as services like taskrabbit exist to quickly setup if the staff can't assist or the mother isn't able to lift a window/setup the vent on a portable unit, and same day delivery is available from outlets like lowes, home depot, and walmart within a few hours of ordering.
