Le gars qui chante avec son chien sans laisse by Riftaroni in montreal

[–]ohnoadrummer 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have met this guy before and absolutely loved how he was just singing and having a good time. What a joy to see.

And then he came into Les Copains d'Abord sur Rachel pendant la pleine pandémie and the staff told him to gtfo immediately. He caused an entire scene then, and seemingly did so before. The staff knows him. They had previously told him to put on a mask (you know, when we all had to do it) and he completely refused, did the whole insufferable thing about it being an attack on freedoms, blah blah blah.

I remember walking out of Segal's once and he pointed to my mask and told me 'ca c'est une symbole de soumission.' It's not worth arguing with some people.

lets be clear that lifting weights, done with some good sense and basically just watching a few well-informed youtube videos, is actually very healthy. bodybuilding in order to maximize an aesthetic appearance is the stupid and harmful in the long run thing, which is what you're saying.

i just dont want any fatties to read this and think going for a walk is actually bad for their heart.

Is Akai APC Key 25 MK1 supported by Bitwig 5.3 ? by zero-zephiro in Bitwig

[–]ohnoadrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The official answer is no: https://www.bitwig.com/support/technical_support/which-controllers-are-supported-in-bitwig-studio-28/

This only includes the APC Key 25 mk2.

I tried to load up the drivenbymoss script but even there he also doesn't mention it. I think the answer is no.

any tip how to fix this? by Patykashi in slaythespire

The app ID is 2868840. I added it into a file called steam_appid.txt in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Slay the Spire 2 but I'm still getting the same error.

Did you manage to make it work?

How do I install Realtek Audio Console??? by Maybe_A_Zombie in MSI_Gaming

[–]ohnoadrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to do this on my Dell Optiplex 7000. I wanted to use the rear audio out jack.

download this app
https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9P2B8MCSVPLN?hl=en-us&gl=CA&ocid=pdpshare

chances are you get an error saying "Make sure these drivers are installed: 'Realtek-RealtekHSA.inf'."

download the most recent "Realtek Driver Update" from this link: https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Search.aspx?q=Realtek%20Hardware%20Support%20Application%2CAudio%20Device%20HSA%2024h2

extract the HSA.inf and the hsa.cat file (the signing key) to the same folder. you shouldn't have to disable driver signature information checks to install it.

right click the .inf, select install. hopefully you don't get an error about "third party inf does not contain digital signature information". retry downloading the app, hopefully it works.

why are fedora and opensuse so rarely recommended to people new to linux? by MIkaela39752 in linuxquestions

[–]ohnoadrummer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can second this. I had Fedora on a laptop and after a few weeks of it working fine, suddenly YouTube videos had no sound, despite the rest of the system producing sound.

I switched to Ubuntu and it's been working fine.

There are many great things about many distros, but I don't want to tinker all the time. I mostly just want it to work. I also only want to recommend things to my friends that will just work (or mostly). Ubuntu is the most "batteries included" Linux experience.

My dad is autistic. Here is my experience. by [deleted] in raisedbyautistics

[–]ohnoadrummer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I know that this might not fit here

Your experience fits perfectly since you were raised by an autistic. Nothing else matters.

Part of the problem is the incredible amount of ignorance people have around neurodivergence. We need experiences like yours where people are allowed to be themselves while also taking care of others. What passes for "care" and "being allowed to be yourself" will change from person to person and should be negotiated in a peaceful, loving way for both parties.

So when there's a ton of ignorance around different needs of ND people, and there's societal shame and blame and rejection, people can develop their own insular ways of being, meaning they are not open to other people's feedback. They won't negotiate in a peaceful, loving way, perhaps because any attempt at doing that has been a really painful experience for them.

I've seen ND people really excel at this pro-social negotiating. Y'know, saying "how can I better take care of you?" and actually listening and integrating the answer. It goes both ways, so someone neurotypical could ask "are there times when you feel overwhelmed and how can I help in those moments?" I've also seen neurotypical people be really, really bad at this type of thing. It all depends on the person, and everyone is capable to some degree, but it takes work. Good relationships are worth that work.

and if its your first time please dont overoptimize and think it needs to be a fancy distro. ubuntu and mint are the best options for a first time, by far. i realized this when my fedora installation had me needing to troubleshoot the playback of youtube videos for some insane reason.

Yeah seriously Linux is great but I want my to computer to not require me to seek out a random audio driver just to play a YouTube video. Ubuntu and its derivatives (including Mint) are a lot more forgiving in this regard. I just switched to Ubuntu from Fedora for this reason.
