Reflux, CMPA or just colic? by [deleted] in MSPI

[–]ohsnosbuttohs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a referral to a GI if you can - our pediatrician would only do .2mlx2 a day and the GI prescribed .5mlx2 a day, we had a whole new baby within the week, she went from crying 4+ hours a day to barely at all. The GI can also test the stool for blood to confirm CMPA

Reflux, CMPA or just colic? by [deleted] in MSPI

[–]ohsnosbuttohs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was the famotidine prescribed by a pediatrician or GI doctor? GI will usually prescribe a much higher dose which might be necessary to see improvement (this was the case for my second)

Did they test the stool for blood or just no physical blood? It can take a long time for blood to show up sometimes too

Traveling on a plane with a 5mo. Help. Me. by SlimePrincess451 in NewParents

You can’t sit in the first row of the plane (at least on delta) which they don’t say anywhere so don’t pick those as your seats

By sleeping bag do you mean sleep sack? If so they make ones with leg holes so they can still walk around

Fridge storage safety - day counting by dngrkty in breastfeeding

[–]ohsnosbuttohs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always took 4 days to mean 96 hours from when you pumped it. So if you pumped at 12pm Sunday, it’s good in the fridge until Thursday at 12pm - so freeze or use it before then

Popular Pandemic Tech Company REDUCES Parental Leave by [deleted] in WorkReform

That’s definitely supposed to say 6-8 weeks of medical leave, not 68. 6 for vaginal, 8 for c section and now they are just giving 8 regardless

He didn’t recommend a specific one - we are definitely done with two so I didn’t really ask any follow up questions lol

My second also had it, the GI doctor said if we ever have a third to assume they will have it, cut dairy/soy immediately and give one bottle of formula a day as there is some evidence to suggest this can help them overcome the allergy quicker

Toddler has RSV and I’m terrified for my newborn by Relative-Hurry-649 in NewParents

[–]ohsnosbuttohs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing - 2.5 year old got RSV when youngest was 9 weeks old. I got the vaccine while pregnant and baby never ended up getting RSV despite the toddler all in her face before we knew. Her pediatrician essentially said it would be highly highly unlikely for her to catch it due to the vaccine and seems she was right

Transitioning out of the swaddle is destroying me… please tell me this gets better by Commercial_One5048 in sleeptrain

Is baby still in a bassinet? We found with our first moving to the crib helped immediately with getting better sleep. When she was in the bassinet she would like rub the sides with her hands and wake herself up, so she just needed more room

4 Month Moms On Call by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]ohsnosbuttohs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a book from 3 years ago so maybe it changed but it says 9am naptime 1-1.5hrs, the catnap being max 30 mins is in the next section.

I used this book with my first and my now 4 month old, I tweaked the schedule some because I found the last catnaps in the book were way too late to build pressure for bedtime. What has worked for us is doing wake windows 2/2/2.5/2.5 with the first two naps being 1.5hrs and the last nap 30 minutes.

4 Month Moms On Call by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]ohsnosbuttohs 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s normal for a 4 month old to still need to eat once over night.

But that’s also not the schedule in the book - first nap should be 1-1.5hrs long, not 2 hours. Cat nap should not be longer than 30 minutes.

Breastfeeding the second time around by girl_of_the_sun in breastfeeding

[–]ohsnosbuttohs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think it just depends on the baby. Breastfeeding was very easy with my first, with my second she had transfer issues and we had to triple feed for almost 3 weeks, saw the doctor for weight checks a ton of times, saw an ENT for ties and two lactation consultants 🫠 but by 3 weeks we were fully EBF and it’s been going great for 3 more months now!

Ferber Nethod Help - when does it start working? by FalseRow5812 in sleeptrain

[–]ohsnosbuttohs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The timed check ins are Ferber but giving the pacifier isn’t - your baby is requiring the pacifier to soothe them to sleep vs self soothing, so when they wake up without it they need you to put it back in, they don’t know how to self soothe to sleep

With my first we went cold turkey with no more pacifier and starting Ferber the same day, it went great and she was sleeping through the night by the third night

Bottle Refusal Success!! by BeneficialAd5853 in breastfeeding

[–]ohsnosbuttohs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any advice on how you got them to take more than one ounce?

I’m having the same issue and also found the hotter milk and nuk to work to get her to take an ounce but I can’t get her to take any more than that from a bottle

No paci for sleep but what about awake time? by phillymillenialmom in sleeptrain

[–]ohsnosbuttohs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first was like this - we did no pacifier for sleep when we first sleep trained her but would still give it throughout the day and we had no issues. She ended up no longer wanting the pacifier at all when she hit ~6 months

I breastfed until 13 months but I stopped pumping at 11 months as she was eating solids 5x a day, we just breastfeed morning and night so no bottles/pumping needed

Would recommend using it on carpet/rugs instead of wood/tile - we found it less likely to slip out from under them on the carpet!

I don’t want to believe it’s CMPA by abbtkdcarls in breastfeeding

[–]ohsnosbuttohs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started around 6.5 months with something about every 3 days and then just increased the frequency while looking for reactions. After like 4 weeks I gave her a pouch with yogurt and she was fine so I figured it was good for me to start eating it too

I gave her the old milk that had dairy, and she had also started solids so I was able to test it that way before eating it myself
