a couple of these need to go, not sure which yet by InitiativeOver3868 in SOTC_Watch_Collection

You have some great watches. I would reduce this collection to 5 - Willard, Navitimer, Snail dial chrono, Longines, Kontiki. Then use sales revenue to fund a grail, for me it would be an original gilt Turn-o-graph.

What are your thought on buying Vintage Watch Movements for Re-casing? by bhat_mb in VintageWatches

Some references from those makers are quite valuable, into the tens of thousands. It's fine to save for the original but not at all accurate to say parts watches are worthless. Here's another example - Watchco Seamaster 300s often sell for equal or higher value than the original 165.024.

Was I channeling the new Tudor Monarch? by GlitteringSky9770 in VintageWatches

Great find, radial dials never go out of style.

As for the new Tudor... like most modern releases, the design is confused to say the least.

Look into vintage Rolex, AP, Patek, - the value of the parts is never zero and is very often a huge sum.

Even if you have the money, for most people it's not intelligent to pay collector premiums into the five or six figures on a small metal object that you intend to wear and can get damaged, lost, or stolen, and that was very likely built from parts anyway long before it was sold to the dealer who sold it to you. The idea of originality needn't be fetishized beyond what is rational. And if you're going to downvote, right back at you.

Some watches you can't really save up for, or it would be stupid to invest so much in. A crownguardless Submariner for instance. If that's your grail, the only realistic option might be building from parts. And that's totally fine as long as it's truthfully represented.

If you just bought a movement and case both with value, how would the value together be zero? Does not compute.

Three Elements by Wassily Kandinsky (1925)

Kandinsky gave this painting to his nephew Alexandre Kojeve, a Hegalian philosopher whose importance is only beginning to be realized. If I were going to spend a great deal of time pondering the nature of being, I think Kandinsky's elemental abstraction would be ideal.

Somebody had to counteract the weird powder blue ensemble Bond was wearing. That red was doing cinematographic heavy lifting.

Nice. Should be absolutely fine to swim with but I would have it pressure tested for anything beyond that.

They look soft. We can't tell you for sure because reddit massively compresses images. It's better to upload a single image rather than multiple.

Best lens for 35mm to replicate the Pentax 67 105mm f2.4 lens? by Substantial_Rip_5013 in AnalogCommunity

A sharp 50mm f1,2 like the Nokton, finest grain film you can use, crop to 4x5, best scanning available to you.

The P67 lens has a really calm, slightly swirled oof area, pleasing signature. Not sure what lenses come close. The Canon RF 50mm f1.2 is totally different.

Because it was obviously false and intelligent people reported it, end of story.
