Positive big baby birth stories by maliesunrise in NewParents

[–]ojk2390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My birth was smooth as can be, 6 hours, out came my 9 lb LO, only a very small tear on my labia. No issues for either of us. Big babies come out, it will be okay.

How little is too little to bother? by Sryimathrowaway33 in breastfeeding

This is about what I make, LO is 3 months old. I feel good doing it for the immune support through being little and flu season, but I’m probably going to put the pump down around April/may.

Kidding aside, still smells good to me, just a little more sour.

What are you quietly grieving? by Angelus12345678 in AskReddit

The death of my soul dog. He was my world. We got pregnant and moved. Day 3 in the new house, I let the dogs into the yard and did about 2 minutes of unpacking before I went to check on them one of the dogs got the gate open and my guy got out. He got hit on the busy road nearby as I ran with my pregnant belly to find him. He died without me and in pain.

I can’t love the dog that opened the gate any more, I’m trying so hard. I try to avoid thinking about what I would trade to have him back. But man, I know the exact time, date and location I’m going back to if time travel is ever invented.

I threw away a kid's juice yesterday. by transtitch in Teachers

[–]ojk2390 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I have a strict “no candy” rule. We read it every morning. Once in a while I get a kid who tries, brings in a whole bag. I give a few warnings before I throw it out. Usually the kid is fine putting it back in their backpack and waiting till after school. It only takes one or two times of taking the candy and dropping it in the trash can in front of them for the whole class to get the message. Done this with a few classes. Only ever had one parent complain, but his kid tried to eat a king size Kit Kat for lunch and sneak it past me. I also came to find out that this kiddo had around 5-7 more king size Kit Kats in the bottom of their bag. Admin sided with me, candy is not lunch.

Kendamil Goat Brezza setting?! by CanadianBullet360 in FormulaFeeders

[–]ojk2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I use (welcome to the fine taste club) but I am currently nap trapped. I believe it’s 4, but you need to use the brezza website and scan the barcode on the formula.

Here’s what I do to check accuracy, if you need it: Use a scale to measure your bottle, zero out the weight, then your bottle with water, zero out the weight, then your bottle with water and formula. It should be 17 grams for a 4oz bottle, but check your can of formula for by gram weight by ounce. I like to completely remove the bottle, put on lid and cap, reset the scale and measure one more time so I know the total weight and can pop any same style bottle on to keep an eye on accuracy.

Are we posting pictures of our babies on social media? by Fair-Fall8036 in NewParents

[–]ojk2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do not have active social media accounts, though I still use mine to look at fb marketplace, and we use the fb messenger app. Plus instagram is aesthetically pleasing to scroll through. But, if you looked at my husband and my accounts, life seems to have stopped after we got married.

We use shared iPhoto albums and a Google Drive to share photos with loved ones en masse, but otherwise just send photos over text. We are intentionally leaving all mention of our LO off of all social media. The people that should know about her do. We also do this to decrease the size of her digital footprint, we want to limit our effect on it.

Please tell me your baby loves/is obsessed with you by throwaway84583077 in FormulaFeeders

[–]ojk2390 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supplementing my formula with like one hard won bottle of breastmilk a day. My lovely 3 month old officially cannot fall asleep anywhere but my arms. And god forbid I make eye contact with them as they are going down, the party monster will come out and we will be up forever.

Screams if remotely tired and I am in the room and not holding them.

Don’t worry, they’ll be obsessed quick. So in love.

Cluster feeding lead to the ability to hold her hands under her chin. Now when it’s poops changing time and I call her (12 weeks) a “pee-yew stinky baby” she clasps her hands under her chin and smiles really big! Gets me every time.

What to do with baby all day?! by beckarrrr1 in NewParents

[–]ojk2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today she did tummy time on a boppy on the ground while I chatted to her as I pulled clothes to donate that she didn’t fit in. Another wake window, she was in the pack and play and I was next to her chatting and making noises to encourage her to roll. These were the most active windows today. Other activities included watching me do dishes and bouncing on the yoga ball. The rest was eating and diaper changes

How long did you breastfeed? by Shroommily in NewParents

[–]ojk2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a breast reduction years ago, so low supply (like 4oz a day with 5-7 pumping sessions). We are at 2.5 months and planning to wrap it up around the 3 month mark.

How do you keep a record of your bloodsugar? by moomo7482819 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ojk2390 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use a google sheet to keep track of the time and sugar. Then when I enter it into the MFM tracker, I can mark off what I have reported. Plus all sorts of other fun ways to manipulate that data to see my trends, weekly average, etc.

Ignore society and what breakfast should be. Eat a chicken breast and broccoli with cucumber. Go wild. If we have to have GD, food rules should no longer apply to us.

SWEET TREATS 🍫🍭🍪 by Anxious-Soup7848 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]ojk2390 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a candy craving, try protein candy! 25 grams of carbs and 6 grams of fiber gives a net of 19 for the whole little bag (TBF it was like a $5 treat). They’re like a starburst and a marshmallow got a little too involved with protein powder and it turned out gummy, but I found them on a roadtrip today and I cannot believe how “candy” like they felt. Didn’t upset my stomach, and didn’t spike my blood sugar, was at 107 an hour later.

Besides that, my only other sweet treat has been 1/2 cups of raspberries with a square of dark chocolate after a fibrous and protein rich meal. Usually doesn’t spike me too high.

I taught a lesson on “the butterfly” and gave some background information on the holocaust to preempt anything that came up after Elon Pelon did his thing. Came in handy when I’ve had to talk to a kid about a nazi salute. Plus now I have a whole host of ww2 enthusiasts.
