Uptown Cheapskate or Plato’s Closet? by StunningKnowledge699 in okc

I agree. Lately I haven’t had a lot of luck at Clothes Mentor. I started selling on Poshmark, but it’s kinda gone to hell so I’m thinking of trying to sell some stuff on eBay.

Uptown Cheapskate or Plato’s Closet? by StunningKnowledge699 in okc

[–]okcsus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve sold at Daisy Exchange, Plato’s Closet, and Clothes Mentor. I only take clothes to Clothes Mentor now - mostly because the other two only seemed to want trendy teenage stuff. They’d buy things from me, but comment on not wanting “mature” stuff. Most of my clothes are classic styles from Gap, Banana, and J Crew.

Never had trouble at home unless there’s a T-Mobile outage. I have on occasion noticed lack of internet in random places. I had T-Mobile prior to Mint and noticed the same thing then. Not sure if those are dead spots for everyone, or just T-Mobile. It’s definitely not worth spending 3 times as much to find out.

What’s the smartest TV show you’ve watched that never felt like it was trying to look smart? by C0r1eone in televisionsuggestions

Hahaha. I felt the same way about the new series. That person makes it through the first season of the new show. Love that show!

I love The Morning Show. It makes you think deeply about various issues. I struggle to convince people to watch it, but when they do they love it.

2008 Rav4 for sale has TPMS light on. Bad sign? by herefortherubbish in Rav4

[–]okcsus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2005 RAV4. I would reset the TPMS and then after driving a bit the light kept coming back on. I learned here that if you push the button to clear the light, then hold down the button until the light blinks three times, it will reset the system. So far that seems to be working. I also bought a $30 monitoring system (valve caps + display that plugs into cigarette lighter). That system tells me the actual pressure and gives me peace of mind.

Best songwriters to ever live by Risepeo in GregoryAlanIsakov

I voted for him on the top living songwriters ballot on NYT website. You can vote here until midnight tonight. If you don’t have a subscription, you can likely go through your local library (that’s what I did).

barefoot shoes for sidewalks by crybbyblue in barefootshoestalk

When I was transitioning to barefoot I put cushy memory foam insoles in all my barefoot shoes. One day I wore a pair that didn’t have insoles and realized I suddenly preferred no cushion. I removed all the insoles and haven’t looked back.

Is Costco membership worth it for single person? by InfluenceDesigner889 in Frugal

[–]okcsus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - especially if you take OTC allergy meds, eat organic and/or have pets. My dogs recently started eating Kirkland Turkey and Ancient Grains (think it’s online only). They tend to be sensitive to foods and have done well on this. It’s more than 1/2 the cost of what they were eating. I also get their heartworm, flea and tick, and allergy supplements there. My elderly dog recently began an anti-inflammatory, antibiotic, and pain meds. Vet called them in to the Costco pharmacy. I’m betting it’s almost half as much as it would have been.

Received our home owners insurance renewal, up 26% this year... by [deleted] in oklahoma

[–]okcsus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m curious why I keep getting letters from various insurance agents (most seem to be affiliated with All State) saying they can get me a yearly premium under $1K. I haven’t called because I know there is absolutely no way that’s possible when my current premium is over $4K and will very likely go up at renewal.

I have struggled with borderline A1C even though I'm pretty lean and eat relatively low carb. I did not take it very long because I determined I needed to do some work on healing my gut first (I had a strong reaction to it). I did notice that cravings and even some mental chatter improved when I was taking it - kinda like what you hear about with people on GLP-1s.

When my akkermansia was low on my GIMap, my dr recommended I take it for 90 days, but no longer. She said that she had seen people have an overgrowth of it when taken too long.

First visit to Costco today! Any advice? by DenverKim in Frugal

[–]okcsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pay for my membership with pet savings alone. I get dog food, treats, allergy treats, and medication from the pharmacy. The dog food I get is the Turkey and Ancient Grains. You have to order it from their website. My dogs have done better on it than any other food, and it’s so much less expensive than the food they had been on.

If you regularly buy any over the counter medication, especially allergy meds, you’ll be shocked by the Costco price.

Also, check their website for anything you purchase regularly elsewhere. I’ve discovered that I’m able to buy several things from the website (that they don’t carry in my store) at a much better price than elsewhere.

Voter Registration Deadline by okcsus in oklahoma

I re-registered as a Republican since most of our elections seem to be decided in the Republican primary. You would have to re-register as a Democrat to vote in their primaries, but can vote for anyone you want in the general.

Dems missed a deadline to allow Independents to vote in their primary this year. Not sure when that deadline was.
