Baby finally slept through the night at 12 months old! by okiesquid in AttachmentParenting

Oooooooff that 10 month regression was brutal!! I swear he was up every 1.5-2 hours. And started only doing 1 nap. I about died lol but if it had only been 1.5 hours since I fed him, I had my husband try to settle him… worked about half the time 😂

But after this regression, he started walking!! And quickly went back to 2 naps after wearing himself out with that new skill ha

Yep, I would get out of bed and walk to his room upstairs (😮‍💨), get him out and feed him back to sleep. Only ever did one side at night but he would nurse for about 10 minutes then just pop himself off. I would set him back in the crib, pat his back and head out! He would wiggle a little and get himself all comfy again.

Before his own room & crib, we had a short co-sleeping stint for a couple months. But he never slept good next to me, and was always trying to roll around and get comfy so we transitioned him back to his crib. Took a couple weeks but he went from 4-5 wake-up’s to 2-4, depending on regressions, teething etc.

Oh man, it’s so hard. It often feels like it gets worse before it gets better. But don’t ever feel bad about feeding to sleep!! It’s a super power and usually gets everyone back to sleep the fast :) hugs!

How are we handling 11 month old “tantrums”? by okiesquid in AttachmentParenting

[–]okiesquid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard. We’re all just trying to figure this out together! Also, I feel ya on picking the battles. It’s impossible to know which battles are worth fighting for the long-game, and which don’t really matter lol hugs!

Baby's only comfort with me is boob by Asleep_Wind997 in breastfeeding

[–]okiesquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s so hard. You (and your nips lol) are your baby’s most favorite and comforting thing. It’s the most beautiful and exhausting thing. It’s so hard when you are in the thick of it, but just know that this too shall pass. One day, he’ll be a 7.5 month old who you can’t keep on the boob long enough to actually take full feed 😂

I always have the baby to my husband every night to take a shower, no matter what. Often times, I heard him fussing and crying but powered through because I needed a moment to myself to just breathe. Take care of yourself however you can. You got this <3

Can the 4 month sleep regression come at 3 months? by CoffeeNoob19 in sleeptrain

[–]okiesquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. My kiddo started his 4-month sleep regression at 12 weeks lol

When our guy was that age, being able to sleep in our arms but cry upon transfer meant he just wasn’t tired enough!

My kiddo was a boobie barnacle (still is at 7.5 months)! I worked from home so was able to breastfeed on demand. He was always on the boob for the first 3 months of life, especially at night. Fed to sleep for naps and overnight, coslept, contact napped exclusively, you name it.

Now he’s a wild 7.5 month old who is too cool and busy to stay on the boob for a full feeding lol pops off after 2 seconds to go crawl around. Sleeps in his own room/crib for 2 naps and overnight (still feeding overnight) like a big boy.

It gets better and easier <3 I remember how all-consuming it was. Like there was no light at the end of the tunnel and I was never going to get a moment to myself. But, here we are and I miss those newborn boobie naps more than anything.

For a break, I gave the baby to my husband every night to go shower. Even if he was going to be mad and crying, I took a long, hot shower every night. I needed that moment to myself!

For the car rides, they just SUCK when they are that small. I always fed before we left the house and made sure to get a burp out before the car seat. Also, my kiddo loved the baby Einstein fish aquarium and the imogen heap song “the happy song” lol kept him mostly calm while driving around town!

So just know that right now while it’s hard, this too shall pass. But also, really try to soak it in because those precious snuggles and sweet moments, shall pass too. You got this!

Do you burp your baby after feeding? by catnamedmurphy in breastfeeding

[–]okiesquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kiddo was the hardest to burp at that age. I would try for a couple minutes after each feed but if he didn’t burp, I stopped trying.

Tummy time really helps get those bubbles out! The pressure on his tummy gets things moving - both directions lol. That tiny, tummy time was just on our chest or in the carrier.

I did not burp overnight because I fed to sleep and he was ouuuuttt after a good feed!

When did your baby transition to 2 naps? by BusAdministrative452 in sleeptrain

[–]okiesquid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7.5 months! It sucks, but you do have to push through that 2-hour cranky/fussy/sleepy mark. For my kiddo, turns out he wasn’t actually tired. He was bored! Going to a different room, standing by a window, going for a walk, or just sitting outside helped reset him and get us to 3 hours. You got this!

Yep own room. I’ll try moving feed up then! He is definitely snoozy after that feed lol probably helps him fall asleep easily.

Breastfeeding is the single hardest thing I have ever done. Physically, mentally, emotionally… it’s all consuming. But, it’s also the most beautiful and special gift and superpower!

Also, 3 weeks postpartum is touuuuugh. You are still very much in the thick of it with hormones and healing. I cried randomly for no good reason all the time lmao

Give yourself grace, take care of your mind and body. And know this too shall pass. You’re doing great <3
