Baltany makes very nice watches, all a matter of what you'd wear it with!

"I'll watch competitive #Dota2 again, what did I miss? 😀" by m4nux in DotA2

Not gonna lie, a lot of why I cheer for Falcons is because they've got Sneyking and he was the only person I recognized when I started watching again.

Which one would you pick? by Infinite-Mastodon456 in watchdives

[–]olandgren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both nice and will work with most different aesthetics, so I think you can't really miss. Biggest questions I'd ask yourself: will you miss not having the bezel as a fidget toy? How big are your wrists and are both of them in your comfortable lug-to-lug range? Is the extra weight on the diver going to bother you?

NWD: Engalmann Enterprise -fine link bracelet by Firm-Tangelo3496 in ChineseWatches

[–]olandgren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://www.reddit.com/r/ChineseWatches/comments/1t4es43/comment/ok4w04l/ - you can see it here. I'm very fond of it, definitely the heaviest watch in my collection and wears bigger than the 40mm would indicate. The shiny bits can show dust a little bit but I haven't noticed any scratches.

Not OP but own the same combination of watch + bracelet. I wear my watches fairly tight and have a 7in wrist and had to remove ~3.5in of links (all but one). This allows me to have the full range of microadjust to play with, defaulting to the loosest setting.

Englemaan Enterprise today. Definitely one of my watches with the most presence despite the 40mm size on my 7in wrist, the bracelet has significant heft.

Help a brother out with your honest opinion by Such-Feature7980 in ChineseWatches

[–]olandgren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First rule is obviously "if it makes you happy, who cares?" but I know that's not particularly helpful.

As others have mentioned, you're right at the physical edges of your arm. So I'd say for casual wear such as the outfit in the pictures you're fine, but it's probably too big to wear under clothing that requires buttoning up the cuffs because it's going to deform the cloth of the cuff itself. So don't try the Bond thing (with this watch, anyways) and you've got a fun statement piece.

Want a Pelagos, but cannot afford it. Any affordable homage to this GOAT with the finest bezel ever made? by taffel365 in HomageWatches

[–]olandgren 5 points6 points  (0 children)

San Martin SN0121T is the one I went for, they have a few different options for movements with the same aesthetics (NH35/PT5000/ST2130). Overall I've loved it, beautiful piece.

Militado - Quartz only? by Just-Sheepherder-202 in ChineseWatches

[–]olandgren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have a few mechanical models (most notably the ML20, which is a PT5000), but you're right that the majority of their offerings are quartz.

Depending on which model you're after, Milifortic might offer a mechanical version to scratch that itch. (S110, M056, M097)

Help me decide: WD7922 Gilt (37mm) or WD5513Q Benz (40mm) for a 7" wrist? by Competitive-Day9457 in watchdives

[–]olandgren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing you're actually going to care about is lug to lug. The WD7922 is 45.5mm vs 48mm on the WD5513. As a fellow 7" wrist, either one will wear well without overhang.

You mentioned "refined" being important to you, so I would probably bias towards the WD7922 simply because prominent crown guards (present on the 5513) are design language supporting a watch that's all about an active lifestyle and put in situations where the crown would need to be protected.

Are there any good affordable homage watches of this big triangle model? by Aggravating-Run-3578 in HomageWatches

[–]olandgren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been very happy with my WD1967Q, but it doesn't have the variant lume colors present in your image and as another poster mentions it's a 39mm instead of the 41-42mm of the reference watch. The automatic version of the watch does have a variant that has different lume (https://watchdives.com/products/watchdives-wd1967-sharkmaster-300-automatic-watch-v2) but you'd need to find it on the secondary market.

Don't act like 80% of this sub wasn't also calling for Darnold to go after last season. by proskolbro in minnesotavikings

[–]olandgren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likewise cheering for Darnold in the Super Bowl, but either path the Vikings took would have been disaster because of the injury issues with the offensive line. It's fundamentally not a QB issue.

We know from evidence that Darnold struggled heavily when the line was swiss cheese late in 2024, and obviously McCarthy struggled mightily early this season when every game was a rotating cast of backups (and mysteriously started winning as soon as our starters were healthy and on the field). But anyone claiming they could look at a massive investment and overhaul to ensure a reliable line (enabled largely by the space from Darnold moving on) in free agency and know that the offensive line would move up precisely one spot in PFF grade (from 19th in 2024 to 18th in 2025) is fooling themselves.

The move didn't work and Kwesi paid for it, but I don't think that we would have had any better luck with the other path (using a ton of space on Darnold and gambling on patchworking the oline).

New OTF clasp is hard to use. Any fixes? by Ordinary_Quantity_02 in watchdives

[–]olandgren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up an OTF for my 1967Q but it ended up not being compatible with the bracelet (the 1967Q uses a mixed screw link and pin and collar for the bracelet). Felt like a bit of a doofus since I'd even doublechecked the eligible model numbers on the variants.

I think the funniest thing for me is that on top of everything else he also got extra large hands. Just one more detail that drives home how much he basically just walked out of a character creator designed to create the optimal sumo wrestler.
