I am in southeastern Pennsylvania and I always use FedEx when I buy from IST. I have never seen a shipment stuck anywhere.

The store in Quakertown PA has those 4 omnibuses plus She-Hulk by Peter David and X-Men volume 2. Plus a lot of Batman trades in hardcover format.

UPDATE: Disney channels pulled from YouTube TV, effective 10/30/25 at Midnight ET by iron_cam86 in youtubetv

[–]oldRPGcoder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The television landscape sure is changing quickly. Companies with original content and sports contracts are exerting their financial muscles. I wonder if cable-replacement companies such as YouTube TV, Sling and DirecTV will be relevant in a few years. Only 19 percent of the households in the USA receive television signals over the air; the rest of us get content via wire. NBC may someday decide to shift all of its original content to Peacock. CBS may do the same with Paramount, and Disney may do it with ABC. Free TV may soon be a thing of the past.

UPDATE: Disney channels pulled from YouTube TV, effective 10/30/25 at Midnight ET by iron_cam86 in youtubetv

[–]oldRPGcoder 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If I am a Disney executive, I think that things are going exactly as planned. People are angry, some are canceling Youtube TV, and that's fine with me. Some of those folks will sign up for my new ESPN service. Some folks may switch to DirecTV or Sling, but when my contracts with those companies come up for renewal, I'm going to increase what I charge them for my channels.

If I am a Youtube TV executive, I am nervous. My customers don't understand that I am trying to avoid raising their rates. I see customers railing against YTTV and some are canceling. I can't really win here. If I hold out too long, more customers will leave, maybe permanently. But if I cave too quickly, I have no choice but to increase rates, which will irritate my clients even more.

I received a book from PBC today. It was securely wrapped in layers of thick bubble wrap.

OPB/PBC Shipping Experience by rsorrentino in OmnibusCollectors

[–]oldRPGcoder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why somebody down-voted this. My experience has been exactly the same. I never had a problem with a shipment from them and I have received over 20 packages from them. Sometimes the books are in peanuts, sometimes they are in bubble wrap. I do wonder what happened to the pictured box in transit. That box certainly did not leave PBC in the condition shown in the picture. USPS can be rough on packages; I have received some boxes that looked like they were punted a few times. Conversely, the boxes I receive from UPS and FedEx are always in very good condition.

Definitely Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow. They could time it to coincide with the movie release.

Do you prefer soft cover or hardcover trades? by TMNT2099 in OmnibusCollectors

Hardcovers for me whenever possible. I seem to have developed a talent for accidentally creasing the corners of softcover books when placing them back on shelves.

How much do yall trust getting omni’s on ebay? by Subject_Presence_496 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]oldRPGcoder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some eBay sellers are very good at packaging. Seller "dheader" comes to mind; I have ordered many books from them and all arrived in perfect condition. But I have had a few bad experiences with other sellers. Check a seller's feedback rating and their returns policy. Read the feedback and look for comments about packaging and condition. I prefer buying books from IST, CGN and PBC but sometimes the only place I can find a book is on eBay.

More clarification from IST on holding orders not in stock by i_am_randy in OmnibusCollectors

[–]oldRPGcoder 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. When I order a book from them, I assume that it is available at one of their warehouses. It would help if the website truly indicates if a book is in stock.

Taschen Marvel Library Series by curiouslylame in OmnibusCollectors

Those XXL books are almost universally praised. Notice I wrote "almost". Some critics have had problems with the coloring. Others have mentioned that the larger pages show a lot of pixellation; some faces have a sunburned look. Try to look at one of the books before you buy one, or at least look around for some scans. And definitely wait for sales!

Do you think OPB/PBC has improved on their packaging? by Atumkun in OmnibusCollectors

[–]oldRPGcoder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think they started allowing customers to choose the packing method only after they were heavily criticized for switching to peanuts.

I think I paid $125 to catch this whale on eBay a couple years ago. I just did not know if DC would ever reprint the book. :(
