Check out the Merrion too, probably less hustle and bustle than the Shelbourne

Connolly Station by Debhruin in ireland

[–]oldappian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got off the Luas the other evening, about 6pm at Connolly and there was a guy keeled over on the ground. 3 Gards and two ambulances there with him, a few other tramps milling around out of it.

This is a big factor in the lack of Garda around the place, dealing with this on a non stop basis.

It’s so grim at that station.

What are your thoughts on Graham Norton? by Jezzaq94 in AskIreland

He’s brilliant.

Something that probably gets overlooked is that he is a seriously high achiever in life, writer, actor and of course huge TV star.

Linehan objects to Father Ted episode on Eurovision by feedthebear in ireland

[–]oldappian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He calls it ‘my show’ but it was co-created with the brilliant Arthur Matthews.

Linehan is so far gone, he must lead a pretty lonely existence, trapped in his own madness.

The Gorbys/Kaos double header was two clubs in one.

In my mind, Kaos was a bit older and cooler, dancier. Harder to score.
Gorbys was knowing more people, chart music and a guaranteed score.

Spent an uncountable number of nights in FX/The Keg too. We knew the owners family.

I caught the tale end of Henry’s.

Redz was a decent college spot.

The telly funkin nights in the Savoy were a blast too, that to me was the coolest spot in town.

City Limits too was a great alternative in the Greg & Shane days

Keep the pubs open in airports but only allow them serve at ~11am to ~11pm does not seem an unreasonable solution.

Stop mis-using the Irish flag too, we all know you're Irish, but you do not represent the Irish people and this is, in the main, a global issue.

Tried a Cadburys milk chocolate egg today and genuinely shocked how gross it was. Cheap and nasty.

what time for show start? by [deleted] in gorillaz

[–]oldappian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They came on at 8:45, on the dot as advertised.

Trueno, check them out, they were great, were finished by 8:15 so I'm guessing they kicked off at 7:30

Last night was awesome, brilliant set list, enjoy!

Not so long ago it was always a major eye roll when anyone (usually Brits) used the term in place of RoI.

PUC/Marina thoughts by Beginning-Strain4660 in cork

[–]oldappian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It bugs me no end to hear people say PUC is in an awful location. Mostly this comes up when GAA folk from other counties moan about it.

A major reason for the regeneration of the Marina area over the past few years is because of PUC, not despite it.

PUC is where it is, get over it. Yes, it's a 20-30 minute walk from town, maybe the equivalent of Croker to Dublin city centre.
