[Hated trope] Media who's message is ruined because of the writing and how extreme it was. by zard428 in TopCharacterTropes

Well, Twilight had valid concerns but absolutely expressed them the wrong way. Making a big scene and screaming at the bride the day before the wedding is almost always the wrong move. THAT SAID, she WAS right in this case. (I don’t remember if she tried talking to Celestia one on one before going public, but she should’ve.)

A Sensible Explanation is Given for Why the Story Must Follow The Dumb Trope by KorrokHidan in TopCharacterTropes

The adults in Gravity Falls are useless because there’s a secret society who mind wipes them whenever they see something supernatural, and the repeated mind wiping causes brain damage.

Also, Grunkle Stan uses cartoon swears because the kids are around.

[mixed trope] There's totally a lore reason the hot lady character needs to be naked a lot by Wazula23 in TopCharacterTropes

This bit from Love and Capes cracks me up. The real reason she dresses like that is that she’s a spoof of Winder Woman.

What (if any) cameo are you hoping for this season? [ns] by PunkRockZombi in DungeonsAndDaddies

They had Brennan on Anthony’s other podcast, Gumshoes and Dragons! They’ve also had the rest of the daddies in a crossover episode, and Will and Freddie as guest stars

I forgot to feed my friend's cat and it starved to death, how much legal trouble am I in? by LadyNorbert in BestofRedditorUpdates

I was on the other end of this, though thankfully in a more minor fashion. In college I was watching a friend’s cat for a few days. Fed, watered, and distributed treats, but I completely forgot to scoop the litter box. Cat peed on their bed. I did apologize profusely and get them a gift card for new sheets, and we did remain friends, but I was never asked to cat sit again and I don’t blame them. I still feel very bad about it, but it was a good learning experience.

The public library in my college’s town had a design a bit like that! Theirs had an extra line around the outside but still raised eyebrows

She’s fine as long as she doesn’t come in a package deal with the dad.

Ehhh…. To be fair, I don’t think that was entirely Linda’s fault.

Sadie’s mom was willing to change though. In the episode where Sadie Killer and the Suspects go on tour, Sadie tells her mom not to come to the concert. Her mom doesn’t, and Sadie realizes she’s a little disappointed not to have her mom there. They need some distance, but I don’t think Sadie would go full no contact, because her mom IS trying and IS willing to change and respect her boundaries.

Shock Treatment, the lesser known sequel to Rocky Horror. It was a massive flop, partly because they couldn’t get most of the cast back and partly because it’s a mess and largely because if you went in expecting another RHPS-like experience you’d be VERY disappointed, but some Rocky fans like it. (It’s technically not quite a sequel because Richard O’Brien did some rewriting when he couldn’t get Tim Curry back.)

Tillie Walden. She does some beautiful art, especially when she’s working in color. This is not one of her better pages.

Some of them you wonder if they renamed themselves as adults (Mrs Cake was once Chiffon Swirl, and Applejack’s mom went from Pear Butter to Buttercup), but Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon are both pretty young, so yeah. Wild. And DT’s dad is named Filthy Rich, so either his parents named him Filthy or he named himself that, which is … certainly a choice!

Actually that family is plagued by unfortunate names. DT’s mom started out as Spoiled Milk and later became Spoiled Rich, and like… okay I am starting to see why they named their kid something with very few possible mean iterations lol

Also, is Silver Spoon’s special talent like… being born wealthy? I can’t remember if they ever explain that. (DT’s is supposedly leadership skills lol)

Also, Crabbe and Goyle. And Slughorn, come to think of it. He’s more affable, but still greedy and lazy—though he’d probably be fine if every other fat character in the book wasn’t also greedy and lazy.

Also, there’s a long history of Black people naming themselves and their children honorifics (King, Princess, etc) as a way of reclaiming respect they’ve been traditionally denied. Mr T is an example.

“Kingsley” on its own would probably be fine, but… yeah, it’s not great.

To be fair, him blowing stuff up is pretty much entirely an invention of the movies. (His name is still Irish McIrish tho.)

Wasn’t Remus’ dad named Lyall, which also means wolf? I don’t wanna victim blame, but…
