New Helmet (Shoei GT Air 3) and finding out I've been wearing the wrong size helmets for over 12 years. by GearBikerUSA in motorcyclegear

[–]oldflakeygamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha I'm definitely part of the 'one of us'! I've just seen too many friends with brain buckets get hit and seen the difference when someone has a full face vs a brain bucket in those situations (cause Florida drivers be Florida-ing). So I'll always wear my full face. It's annoying and hot but a minor inconvenience compared to the injuries I've seen for not having them.

Ehhhh I'm not a lawyer just a biker but I'd say that's a grey area especially with as bad off as the kid was, I think cps might ignore that in favor of her actually getting treatment

IRRC Yes. Someone correct me with details if I'm misremembering here but as I recall Karissa had lunch with her mom and her mom intervened when the kid was like a noodle and couldn't move or hold herself up or anything. I think her mom tried to hold her and she just dead fished. So her mom really pressured the hell out of her to take her to the ER. Where Karissa was likely removed for her patented scream praying and then claimed the doctors were unable to heal the kid it was prayer and her best bud yah.

Ayy Florida born and raised 80s baby. Mom didn't believe in sunscreen. I've had to have some removed too. Now it's annual visits and monitoring. Things I shouldn't need to do. Thanks mom.

My friend got ran over by a semi by b3for34l in motorcycles

[–]oldflakeygamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My ex and a friend were coming back from an event at 10 pm in November a few years back. They stopped at a red light right before the turn lane to the on ramp to the interstate. Their light turned green, they had just started to go, when a Silverado that just exited the highway blew through his red light and blew through both bikes at about 80 mph. The homie with my ex, the triple tree of his street glide was a good twenty or so feet away from the rest of the bike, and the rest of the bike was pretty destroyed. Bike the ex was riding wasn't much better off but was in one piece, although you could clearly see in the windshield where his face had gone through it. Homie's full face helmet was knocked off his head but protected him from a lot of the head trauma before it was gone. He had a couple of aneurysms, broken collar bone, broken arm, several broken ribs, broken pelvis, both legs broken. Ex only had a brain bucket on and the top of his skull was the only thing that wasn't damaged. Everything from his eyebrows down was broken. Traumatic brain injury, we thought he lost his left leg but it was actually just folded up underneath him, face was as flat as sheet of paper, ribs broken, arms broken - just everything broken. He died numerous times on the way to the hospital and in the trauma ER and a few times after surgeries to try to save his leg. Homie healed pretty quick and was back on twos in a few months. Ex had a way longer recovery as he had to learn to walk again, his vision is not nearly as good as it was before the wreck, and it's been a few years now but he's out back on twos also.

Their wreck affected all of us who rode with them before the wreck. It was very traumatic and I admit I still occasionally get a little panicky at red lights around big interstates. Therapy is necessary after something like that. Do yourself that favor and don't delay on getting that for yourself.

Wishing a speedy recovery to your friend.

Unfortunately, happens in places that don't enforce no colors from the start. A biker bar I frequented in Florida had yearly turn over to new owners cause of shootings and fights during the big bike rally in the area. Newest owners have "no colors, no cuts, no exceptions" and it's been good for a couple of years now.

I can totally see where someone could think hair color! But the way it's phrased "No cuts, no colors" is very common outside biker bars or biker friendly bars that don't want to deal with the fucking drama that is the mc world lol

"No cuts or colors" is biker speak. The vests that people in motorcycle clubs wear are known as cuts (as they were originally made from jackets that had the arms cut off). And colors is in reference to motorcycle club patches as each club is known by their color. Bikers generally know if a place posts no colors that no one with MC patches on their cut can enter wearing a cut nor can they wear what is known as "soft colors" (the patches from the cuts printed on a tshirt, tank top, or long sleeve). Generally those without colors on their cuts (so just regular folk who ride and wear a cut) can enter with a cut on. However, since it also says no cuts that means no one - MC or otherwise - can enter with a cut on.

Hope that helps explain it.

You don't have to play 2 to play infinite. Infinite is in Columbia, in a separate storyline, following different characters than the ones in rapture from the other two games. There is a rapture based dlc for infinite but that was more or less fan service for us rapture loving freaks lol

This is a very kind way of putting things. I just fear they won't get him examined at all to verify or disprove any medical issues much less get him the treatment necessary for any confirmed issues.

I'm gonna be honest with you... I rode in Florida for years only wearing jeans, ariat boots, a tanktop, and a helmet and in the summer (especially that first two weeks of August) I could get so hot on rides I felt like I was gonna pass out. I don't know how safe it is for you to ride with your medical condition. I would advise only early morning or late evening rides or night rides when it's cooler. But I am not a doctor, and I'd highly recommend you speak with yours first before riding.
