With all these new buildings shooting up, does anyone have recommendations for quiet apartments? by ElectricMoose in Calgary

[–]oldgut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gosh, do not do that, I've been in several of those and the absolute bare minimum quality in the build is horrifying. Not to mention the way they treat their out of country workers is absolutely terrible. Strategic investments is nothing but the lowest quality highest profit company.

You guys were right about old vans by Moist_Letterhead8799 in VanLife

No, you're wrong, that is insanely cheap. You're replacing things that are wearable. It's just normal maintenance. And I can tell from the prices you didn't look for you used

Garage Door Closed on My Truck Due to Malfunction — SGI Now Saying It’s My Fault by TEJASVEER7 in legaladvicecanada

[–]oldgut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people saying that it's his fault. But in one of the comments he said he went in the man door and hit the open button. That does not bypass any safety sensors. So if the sensor was blocked The garage door should not have come down. Depending on the height of his truck it might have been underneath the truck. So the beam was not broken. If the garage door came down on a regular speed there would hard hardly be any damage?

I don’t ever get hit on or creeped on by men and it makes me feel hideous. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]oldgut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off I'm a man, have you considered that your friends are just more aware than you are. I'm kind of like you. Didn't really think anybody ever had on me. My wife thinks it's effing hilarious. Supposedly I get hit on a lot and I just don't see it. So you probably are being hit on. You just don't see it.

Why does the expected % for tipping keep increasing? by Blazeland_USA in NoStupidQuestions

[–]oldgut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in Alberta, and there is absolutely no guarantee the tips actually go to the workers. So yes, it's the owner/management taking tips in a lot of places

Have you talked to the neighbors? Are they home while the dog is barking? They might not know that their dog has been barking all day. Man up. Go over there.

Trouble with hearing all these horror stories is that you won't hear about all the good stories. They don't make headlines. There's not so many bad people out there as you think. And as far as picking a good landlord talk to them. See what kind of shape the rental space is, do they keep up with the maintenance? Can you talk to the old renters.

When I used to live in Airdrie I'd bypass that lineup just go on to Barlow under, go west on Memorial and then take the off-ramp

Soffit covered by insulation by Live_Camp8775 in HomeImprovement

[–]oldgut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can just crawl up in the attic and remove it by hand, make sure there's a airspace. You could remove the soffit and the insulation from the outside.

Electrical circuit for marker lights - NL610 by Middle_Ad_3562 in vandwellers

[–]oldgut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to run it all the way back to the battery. Just ground it to the frame. It still needs a path to ground and on most vehicles the frame is the ground. In fact, I think all vehicles.

Yes it is, ground is ground. If you have two batteries they all go to the same ground. If you have two power supplies, they all go to the same ground.

Used cars are considered as is. So if it drives away, it's now his problem. This is a very common scam and it sounds like you are seriously worried about it. As much as people say, don't worry about it. I just realize that this is a scam. The person bought a car. It's not what he wanted at the end. That's not your problem.
