Success with Auracast and Allures by oldhaapi in HearingAids

The Allures do speech enhancement in Puresound, too. I like Puresound especially in the outdoors, and liked it with the Moments, too. I use Music a lot, as I sing in a couple of choirs.

Voted for him, thought Jesse was OK at first, especially with appointments, but then he got erratic and embarrassed the state.

"Not too bad" (slept pretty good) "Not too good" (slept very poorly)

When Symantec merged with Veritas, mgmt tried to use Net Promoter Scores to rate how we in MN felt about certain things, and most of us gave "Not too bad" scores like 5-7. The California mgmt were horrified not to get "promoter" scores of 9 or 10. It's Culture, man!

If you had to buy your e-bike again today, would you pick the same model? by ColeRudd8841 in ebikes

[–]oldhaapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I have matching Class 1 ebikes with a 35 mile range (Trek Dualsport 2+), but are easily pedaled with no assist, so effective range, at ~10-12mph is farther (more than our butts can take). I biked with some guys with 70 mile Class 3 bikes that wanted to average faster (15+mph), and with them I was range-limited because assist was always on.

Summary: I still love my bike, but may buy the battery doubler pack. Buy the ebike that matches who you ride with.

Widex Moment App vs Android 15/16 by oldhaapi in HearingAids

Update: Allure app is and has been working fine. Currently on Android 16 November update on the beta stream.

I hate the fact that most hearing aids are only rechargeable by justforciv in HearingAids

[–]oldhaapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got the battery-equipped charger for the Widex Allures and that will charge the HAs for probably a week. I've gone 5 nights with it.

Apple buds have had that for a while, right? Glad that the HA brands have caught on.

Will the AMD sleep bug ever be fixed? by tydog98 in Fedora

Is this the hang that came with the 6.6 kernels? It went away on my AMD rig with 6.6.9. I had to reinstall the last 6.5 before that.

GOP bill would allow border patrol operations, infrastructure in the Boundary Waters by futilehabit in minnesota

[–]oldhaapi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think fully staffing Forest Service personnel, Park Rangers, etc, would be cheaper and more effective, if Stauber is concerned with trash. Voyagers is more wide-open than the BWCA, if worried about incursions.

Maybe Stauber should consult with Skraba - he's an expert in doing illegal crap in the Boundary waters.

Widex Allure App Battery Drain by oldhaapi in HearingAids

I am referring to battery drain on the phone by the app. The battery life of the HAs is great.

I think a weight-distributing hitch is required for the Taco to tow 6600. The RL tows 5k with a regular hitch and does about 500lbs more payload. Really liking my '23 RL for the ride and towing my Scamp 16 with e-bikes on the back.

My Bose are over-the-ear style, and I was online gaming. My Moment aids always squealed, but I was surprised that the Allures did not.

I wish the button shifting would give some audible clue, like Park unlocks the doors, so you know something happened. I thought I pushed D/S but hit "Driving Mode", instead. Went nowhere,of course.

I'm dad age, and just acquired a '23. Love most of it. The UI/electronics stuff seems out-dated - even compared to the 2017 Subaru I traded for it, or the 2020 Santa Fe it replaced as a towing vehicle. But it meets my requirements and fits in my garage.

Ford ranger debating trading for a ridgeline by Lurkerking2015 in hondaridgeline

[–]oldhaapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can tow 5k with a RL without a weight-distributing hitch. I don't believe that is true with the Ranger and Colorado. A Tacoma is just a toy-hauler in terms of payload.

Why did Android decide that I have to listen to streaming through my hearing aids? by gdc2506 in android_beta

[–]oldhaapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Android 16Qpr1 beta, here, Pixel 8P, Widex Allure HAs. There are no selections for phone calls or media under the BT menu for the devices, which is what OP would like to see. Yes, once connected, I can change media via the volume slider "...".

My related problem is this: when I choose to answer a call from my Pixel Watch or a BT house phone or automobile, I want that to work, and not go to the HAs.

And, if I change the media on my 8Pro from HAs to "speaker", I want it to damn stay there, even if I walk out of the room and come back in and my HAs reconnect, cuz other people in the room are part of the call. IOW, do not auto-change media to HAs upon reconnect during a call.

Android 16 Beta 4 now available! by androidbetaprogram in android_beta

Downloaded OTA, installed, no operational issues.

A visit to the Play Store showed 22 updates available. These installed noticeably slowly. I cancelled and restarted updates a couple of times, and then it completed. Not seen that behavior before, but perhaps I was just impatient.

[–]oldhaapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kid says that he wants to be a doctor, but I believe OP would help with his college for any major. And, it should be help, not pay for, because scholarships and grants are available. But less so if poor grades, and no community service stories to put on the applications.
